Who here currently uses Vassal?

What is your general opinion of it?

How would you generally compare the "experience" on vassal to "real" games?

Vassal is good for playing a game with people that you can not physically reach because of distance. However the interface is too slow and clunky. Interactions more complex than move a block of troops forwards requires too much time and effort for it to replace actual 40k, The fact that it lacks true LOS and a third dimension also removes many useful strategies that exist in the game.

All in all, I think it is a good attempt at replicating 40k, but its failings prevent me from being able to enjoy or recommend using the system.

Still waiting for Godot.

Yes I use vassal. The only downside is that you have to reserve a lot of time for games if you aren't using a speach system.

I never found the Los thing an issue. You just need to place LOS blocking rocks / trees inside ruins or other trees and or note how high stuff is and you are done.

Inactive, user. New profile might pop up in a while

Tabletop Simulator is far superior to vassal.

It never ends well
