With the growing popularity of Warhammer 30k, it makes sense to have a one-stop shop for Horus Heresy-related news and rumours. Kindly PM me with any news or rumours you think should be noted in the OP for the convenience of readers. Thanks!

NOTE - This thread is mainly to discuss Citadel (as opposed to Forge World) HH products. It's okay to talk about FW products here as well but I'm not going to update the OP with FW news.

Various rumours from Sad Panda (thanks to Warhams-77)
This is main studio. It is in hard plastic and the miniatures can be used in 40K without conversions.

People underestimate the lead time on those boxed games / starter sets in plastic.

The Deatwatch game was finished by the time EF was released.
The AoS-themed boxed game you'll see this summer was finished by the time the AoS starter was released.
The second HH boxed game this fall was finished by the time Calth was released.

The specialist games studio was launched a little more than a month ago. The teased Blood Bowl stuff was probably the first work this team did after starting their new jobs in January. It will likely be among the first things they will release, and I don't think they are aiming for 2016.
Calth II is rumored to be released in Fall 2016 so in about 7-9 months from now by Sad Panda.
I wouldn't call it Calth II or a Calth sequal. It's a boxed game during the Heresy. There are Space Marines. Similarities end there.
But don't we have rumors of an expansion to at least Betrayal at Calth from Panda or Atia?

There is no Betrayal at Calth expansion (not counting White Dwarf material and possibly something digital).

There is a separate HH-based game, but it was written before Calth hit the shelves. It is no more an expansion to Calth than Overkill is an expansion to Execution Force. It simply shares the same setting/time period.
Described by the poster as "confirmed":

Yeah, not believing any of this. The fact that the original poster only had one post (full of rumors that are already proving false) prior to this and use the wrong buzz word (CONFIRMED) without any sort of imagery removes any credibility from this rumor.

I don't want to believe that GW would make another boxed set reprising either of Ultramarines or Word Bearers. It's also hard for me to believe that GW would make plastic versions of a Legion-specific troop type, like the Red Butchers.

That's what makes it suspect to me. They showed with BaC that they're sensible enough to leave the minis generic even if they're theming the box. Why limit the audience by including a unit only one legion (well 2, AL with a specific rite of war) can use?

I will be excited to see what the next *genuine* HH box set will be. Calth seems to have been a big success so I'm sure they will give us more. The models in BaC were wonderful. I'm told the game is pretty good too, just haven't had the chance to play it yet.

You know, I just had a thought. Sad Panda said that we should be seeing Thousand Sons sometime late summer or early fall. We are also supposed to be receiving a second HH era game or whatever around that time. What IF we aren't getting 40K Thousand Sons, but we are getting 30K Thousand Sons?

Otherwise, I would expect something more in line with the traditional adversary groups. Iron Hands v. Emperor's Children, Imperial Fists v. Iron Warriors, etc. I would love to see some more vehicles than just Contemptors.

That runs into same issue of legion specific unit in plastic as world eater unit.

More likely GW aims for generic plastic and legion specific resins. Plays into strenghts of those two mediums better.

"Prospero Burns" would be the ideal HH themed boxset for me ... I just don't think it is feasible to hope for plastic Legion-specific miniatures. I guess SW and 1k Sons plastics could do double duty, of course, in 40k. But there are already a lot of plastic SW kits. As much as it would suit me personally, this seems like a dim hope.

I'd be on-board for that one, too! And it would be relatively easy to keep that Legion-agnostic.

Assuming... the tactical marines will be the same models from Betrayal at Calth? Assault marines sound good though, buy I don't need any more tacticals really. Might have to see if I can find someone selling the assault marines afterwards I guess.

One could always hope for MK. III tactical squad sprues. Toss in an upgrade / optional sprue for Breachers and you're golden.

+1.

I ended up not getting calth because IV isn't that appealing that felt like buying it. Didn't have that much need.

Now give me MK2 and resolution would be waving...Been dreaming of affordable MK2's from long time ago.

Too bad MK3 and 6 are more likely candinates. 2 is long ahead if ever :(

MKII and MKIII are close enough - just squint a bit and you'll be fine!

Now, Alpha Legion Ifrit Squads - that's something we need in plastic, amirite?!?

Absolutely! I would love to get plastic Breachers in Mk. 3 armor. And Phall as being different from Calth actually makes sense since Phall was void-based warfare.

Yes, this would be quite nice and appealing to a lot of different players.

I know it would get me to buy a box.

Or two.

I would buy a box to start a HH era Imperial Fists army. Hopefully it will be like Calth an have it so the miniatures are unmarked and make a cohesive force when used together. So something like three full Breacher Squads that are three copies the same kit. But I wish there was a tank or something, but that wouldn't make sense for void warfare. Terminators would make sense, but we just got the Cataphractii. I really doubt that we get them again. Tartaros-pattern Terminators would be cool.

Which is why I am kinda leaning toward it being Phall, since Phall would be be ship to ship combat with boarding parties rather than ground-based warfare.

I agree with the other comments on the armour Mark. I didn't get Betrayal at Calth because I don't think Mk IV is right for the legions I'm considering starting, so repeating that again would be a big mistake, imo.

To refresh memory, there are five more not yet released products / product ranges Sad Panda mentioned

- FW 30k Sisters of Silence (he pointed out Atia knows things and linked to her post about them)

- A boxed 40k flyer-game similiar to IK:Renegade (2 flyers with discount) in summer (#summeroffliersisreal)

- Plastic 40k Thousand Sons not before summer but indeed coming later this year

- Many Tzeentch AoS releases, with a Lord of Change at the end of the year the earliest, and 2016 being the year of AoS (most releases)

- Codex: Deathwatch

Earlier armour marks would be nice but I'm thinking it will likely be the same as used in Calth to maximise the amount of parts that can be mixed and matched between both sets. Although these are obviously stand alone games, it seems to me that they are using them to provide the parts to allow people to build the basic Legion troop types for 30K in plastic.

Mixing mark parts is a thing in universe so I'm not sure that would be a big consideration.
GW seem quite happy to produce entirely new kits at the drop of a hat these days so I'd be hedging my bets on entirely new marks/models.
