Tyranids Prime IC join Phodian Hive Warrior unit for Phodian Annihilation Swarm formation... Do Prime gain a stealth and prefer enemy or Phodian Hive Warrior lose stealth and prefer enemy or nothing change other than Phodian Hive Warrior gain WS+1 & BS+1?

Where do Stealth and Preferred Enemy come from?

If they are part of the Phodian Hive Warrior unit's rules, then yes, they get them.

If they get them from the Swarm Formation, apparently not, per the GW FAQ Draft.

Yeah special rule are come from formations.
I found draft FAQ.. I just confused because there are two different way. Eg..

"All model in this formation have the stealth special rule"

this one made a sense that prime cannot gain stealth because prime is not a model from this formations.

But there another

"All units in this formations have the preferred enemy special rule"

Spot the difference? "All model" and "All units"

Apparently ICs cannot be included as part of the unit in Formation Rules which apply to the unit.

And even then, if one model in a unit has Stealth, they can all benefit. But apparently, ICs cannot be considered part of the unit when it comes to detachment rules.

It has me scratching my head for the logic behind it.

An argument could be made that the Phodian Warriors do not get the BS/WS boost as they are not Tyranid Warriors.

I would read it as the prime benefits from stealth while in the unit. I don't think he would get preferred enemy and I don't think the phodians would get the bonus as they are not tyranid warriors.

I don't mind about WS boost because Phodian Hive Warrior have WS of 5 same as prime. Just their BS is 3.. Blast weapon.. Won't harm to roll bad dice. Heh

Yeah Phodian Hive Warrior is an unique model. Thank for noticing.

Now I know I better off putting prime with warrior instead of Phodian Hive Warrior. For more shooting with BS 5 and better chance in close combat while swarmlord grant preferred enemy on prime + warrior unit

That is an interesting take. Why would Stealth work, but not Preferred Enemy?

Mostly my mis-remembering Preferred enemy's wording. Both say a unit with at least one model so the Prime should get both.

That's really always going to be the final answer, because despite what we say here, they're the ones making the ruling.

Yeah that was true... Disappointed that sometime they were wrong ( example TO think FMC rule should be same as Flying rule )

I wish there are a hot line to game master or game guru who know it all... Always there for us all...
