Subject: How do you use crisis suits?

I tend to either run cheap fusion suicide suits or 3 man squads with two weapons. What I seem to always run into is that suits die quickly regardless of how I play them. I know I'm supposed to jsj, but ususally that results in my suits failing a jump at some point and getting torn to bits. I also find my opponents tend To pop them with ease the moment they point any str 8 ap 3-1 at them. I don't know why but they always seem to drop like flies and people swear by crisis suits, yet in my experience they've never been great. I need advice.

That's why they're sometimes called suicide suits. Hah.

Are you running drones as ablative wounds? Un-Droned Crisis Suits will quickly get targeted by weapons that double them out (similar problem to Tyranid Warriors).

In the last few games with my tau, I've been running single suits with 2 plasma/2 fusion/plasma and CIB and +1BS on overwatch to DS; the ones that start on the board have either 2 MP or TLMP; crisis units are a pt sink imo.
Edit: I ran the Rapid insertion and Retaliation formation with a CAD, the stealth team and the 2 independent tetras from the CAD have homing beacon, it helps a lot on where I want my DS suits.

It seems that they are best as fusion in my experiences. Plasma's job is done by IA and missile pods are done by HYMP.

use terrain in your favor. DS near them and JSJ behind them every turn
Get some Tetras for that sweet Homing Beacon (no-scatter DS) and some more MLs
Let them use your MLs, as their weapons are generally better than other stuff in your army. A Commander with Command & Control Node and Multi-spectrum Sensor Suit helps as well (he's worthier in big groups).
Crisis are particularly good in a Retaliation Cadre formation, as auto-coming turn 2 and +1 BS for that turn,

Remember that Shas'vres are able to equip signature systems. Using one with the marker drones could be used as a third Mark'o. With a 10 suit squad, that could be for a LOT of marker drones, and a lot of points. Funny thoughts ensue.
Consider, 23 point ablative wounds for the DRONES. Running them naked. I said twenty three because I would only do so in FSE, where everything that can take BKR must do so.

Wouldn't nude suits be better at oblating wounds? Higher save and cheaper per wound. Easier to deep strike in as well.

Drone-Nets make you army's Drones naturally BS3, which helps out quite a bit when gearing Crisis. If you add Drones to your non-Commander suits, you don't need a Drone Controller in you have a Drone-Net.
I's found to best way to keep Crisis suits alive is to take several Monats (single suits), and run them together but spaced over 3" apart from each other. You opponet has to shoot them one at a time, wasting entire squads to kill one Crisis suit, while each one of yours is free to shoot at whoever they want without wasting a gear slot on Target Lock. I like to equip mine for Early Warning and either plasma or fusion, although CiBs and Gun Drones are fun, too.
