In light of all the recent Orky hate I've been reading on Dakka I figured I'd share some great games I've been having:
Fielded 6 squads of 10 lootas supported them with a void shield and they have been decimating. Sometimes I will field them with ammo cache. Decimated some really cheesy marine and nid lists
Finally finished my Feral orks (Orks on boars and squiggoths) which do surprisingly well. Managed to score a win against eldar and a salamander list. He tried to drop some squads to burn out my back line, my squiggly beasts took punishment and held out all game.
I've given up my gargantuan squiggoth for the cheap big mek stompa , WHICH NEVER DIES MIGHT I ADD. It makes for a great distraction unit while my lootas lay waste behind their nice bubble

60 lootas fully inside that void shield is pretty tough to fit though...And heaven forbid if he can crack that shield and lob in some templates in there then!

I really like the board control orks have. I will typically bubble wrap my units with gretchin or the like and space them out so my opponents have trouble reaching my money units. I recently played a game where I did just that against a space wolf / grey knight force. My opponent likes to shunt his dreadknights in my orks face with his flamers and make them run and cut out key units

How well does it work with the recent Void Shield FAQ?

This and more importantly how do you handle the LD7 issue ? And you know that this is just a house rule right ? tneva82 wrote: 60 lootas fully inside that void shield is pretty tough to fit though..
Getting the loota's inside the circle of the field isn't that hard I just wonder how you handle it once the shields go down. And 3 Av 12 "hull points" will go down vs most armies. On top of that are you really playing orks to invest 940 pts in a static gun line ? Seems to me that other armies might be more suited for that ; ) Automatically Appended Next Post:

I'd say that thinking outside the box and playing something unusual is one of the most appropriate ways to play Orks, though. That's a big part of their charm.

yeah making unusual ork lists is fun. But is commanding 60 loota's that with LD7 that run away once your opponent looks at them and cant move much fun ?
Remind you you are stuck with 60 of them when you don't like it no more 60! Thats a lot.

I'm going back to foot slogging. I have 8 full slugga boy mobs now. I'm not sure if I want to scrounge up a ninth mob or not.
I'm also looking at 90 storm Boys as a long term goal. ( a full vulture squad.)
I'm looking to leverage the big turn one assault against a guy who plays Tau. I'm even considering a large grot screen again.
Won't bother the Storm boys at all. I'm not one for fortifications.

I am currently building an army with my own "digga nob" like allies made from bs2 renegades. I like the idea and their cheap long range fire power + chaos spawns / mutant beasts fix a lot of holes in my army. I also tend to run large amounts of grot mobz near my kustom klaw stompa (in larger games) with flame belcha's just because I like flamers that sort of works. I used the storm boyz build (I have ~90 of them) a few times. But I found that they are too much of a glass canon even in combat they aren't really worth 2x a boy in points. They are still only S3 with a 6+ sv :\

I'm only interested in getting them stuck in they just have to tie up every front unit. for a full game turn. My tau friend panics when he feels he has no room to move. The Green tide gave him fits. I'm actually thinking 60 might be enough. I hate that I need ablative wounds from his shooting my movement and his overwatch. Before I get stuck in... I'm looking for a way to set this up where it's not dependent on Ghazghkull's WAAAGH.
Heck, what about the second way being large mobs of grot, infiltrated up. Maybe 4 mobs of 30. Again just to choke out most of the board. Supported by Deff koptas out flanking.Just need some way to get behind the tau....

Your picture actually illustrated my point. It's bloody hard without being heck of a crowded. Templates will scream bloody murder at that.
Top of that you have 940 pts in static gunline. If board has any real template(rather than duck shooting gallery) you have 940pts which won't be shooting all that much at worthwhile targets. One area is very well covered yes but of course opponent could use AV14 to drive through that and send more squishy troops where those won't be seen.
