Recently I have started building my fourth current 40k army, using the Renegades and Heretics: Servants of Decay rules, because I had a lot of extra guardsman or cultists models/bits sitting around not really being used, and I wanted an ally army for my Death Guard CSM army I am also working on. I've always admired imperial guard but loved the modeling freedom granted by playing chaos, so when I recently learned that Tratior/Renegade guard had their own rulesset, and that there was even a Nurgle specific one, I knew I had to play them.

So after about a week and a half of converting/modeling and some base-coating I have the basis for my Renegade Militia, most of them have their first basecoat so I can test play them with a unified color scheme but some still need some painting.

Ive also decided to include progress on my Death Guard here, especially the allied detachment for when I run my Renegades as primary.

Note that this is isn't even all I have for the armies at the moment, I have 2 units of plague marines that go with the renegades and the rest of my death guard over at a friends house who I play against. These are just the models I have at home because I have been working on them recently, but I wanted to get this blog started so I can hopefully starting getting some feedback, comments, and suggestions soon! All of which are definitely welcome and well appreciated!

Deathguardsman:

Enforcers

Plague Marine Exalted Champions

Company Command Squad w/ Lascannon team, Plasmagunner, and Vox-caster

Mutant Rabble (30) w/ Grenade Launcher and Heavy Stubber

Assault Squad w/ meltagun and Vox-Caster in Chimera (called Renegade Armoured Fist Squadron in army rules)

Chimera that has Assault Squad in it.

Vostroyan Stealth Squad w/ Autocannon team, Flamer, Plasmagunner, Meltagunner, and Vox-Caster
(called Discples of Xaphan in army rules but my guys are Xaphani affiliated so yeah)

Extra dudes, not enough to be their own squad... yet

Rhino for one of the Plague Marine Squads

Allied Detachment of Deathgaurd:

Generalist(Non-plague marine) Squad

Bikers w/ mark of nurgle (6 shown but I have 4 more at friends house)

Side views of just the Lizard Riding biker conversions

Chaos Predator (Baal Predator Conversion, still need to switch out TL assault cannon for TL reaper autocannon)

But yeah thats what I have so far with me that I can take pictures of, like I said feedback of all kinds is appreciated!
My renegades are pretty much a Militia made up of various guardsman and cultists that worship and follow a Death Guard Plague Marine Exalted Champion.
They are still affiliated and allied with the Death Guard, pretty much because they are lead by a member of Death Guard and their supplies and weapons are maintained by Death Guard servants and repositories.

PS: Yes those are Tau and Necron vehicles and units in the background, I have decided to put my xenos together in a blog like I have done here with my chaos worshipers, mostly because that is how I play the 2 sets of 2 armies as allies and because it will be more organized.

Anyway more fluff and backstory on my two chaos armies and updates coming soon!

Hey guys recently made some significant modeling and base-coating progress, plus I recently reached a bit of stroke of ideas regarding the style and paintjob of my chaos armies. This lead me to draw up some backstory and fluff for them too.

So my custom group of Death Guard is called the Death Scythes (formally known as the Death Guard New 7th Traitor Company). Oringally formed after the Drop Site Massacere of Istvaan V and subsequent events left the DG with no 7th company. Mortarion decided to fix this and ensure that the DG 7th company would never turn on the legion again and gathered his most fanatic and loyal of his followers to form the new 7th company. The new warband, mostly of Barbarusian stock, worshiped Mortarion, Typhus, and the Deathshroud's use of the elegant yet powerful scythe, thus they use scythes and mini-scythes(Kamas) whenever possible as melee weapons and adorn them on their armor and daemon controlled vehicles. They kept the basic color scheme of the DG, basic unpainted ceramite with green details, yet they added their own slight modifications by painting their shoulders and backpacks base black with green trim.

After the Death Scythes encountered a mixed Vostroyan-Cadian attack force near the edge of the warp, and defeated them in battle after boarding there ship and slaughtering them with their blades and lethal contagions oozing from the corrupted super soldiers, Lieutenant Kosit Dufran ordered the Astra Militarium ship be set to fly into the warp, so that Nurgle may corrupt and make use of the many guardsman corpses that now lined the space craft. Battle-Captain Zeverus Nort, once an acolyte training to become a DG Librarian before being reassigned as a Lieutenant and rising up the ranks following Mortarion's disolvement of the Legion's Libarus, simply nodded before he and the rest of the Death Scythes returned to their ships. Dufran staying on the vessel to ensure the autopilot apptly guided the ship into the warp. Nurgle happily embued the ship and its many corpses with his gifts of dark contagion, re-animating the flesh with dark power transferred by diseases and decay. The now undead, but definitely not alive guardsman shambled back up, picking up their dropped weapons and gear and then bowing before the Plague Marine at the helm of the ship, who they now viewed as a profit for bringing them into the clutches of the great grandpapa nurgle. Dufran was now regarded as a champion by the god, and his worshipers. Made evident by the zombie guardsman standing before him awaiting his command. He thanked Nurgle for this another great gift that the god has bestowed upon him, and named his new Traitor Militia the Cult of the Scythe and ordered the ship to return to Death Guard fleet-group, ready to use them to wreck havoc upon the imperium and spread disease across the univserse in the name of Mortarion and the great god of pestilence.

But enough fluff, on to pics of the new/recently modified stuff!

Anti-Tank Squad

Chemical Mortar Squad

Plague Marine Exalted Champion Kosit Dufran

2 of the Enforcers, who had their CCW's modified into mini-scythes/kamas

One of the other Enforcers got a third arm and is being upgraded into an Apostate Preacher of Nurgle

Chimera got its weapons upgraded and a basecoat

Vostrayan Stealth Squad's Flamer(er?) got a tank backpack

Sergeant of the Armourmed Fist Assault Squad got a kama aswell

Death Scythes Generalist Squad got 2 more members and they all got mini-scythes

Definitely not a Alpha Legion member in disguise. "He's got a scythe, we can trust him."

The other PMEC canidate got a scythe, and got put on a bike so he can roll with the squad of bikers and rock that toughness 6
as Lieutenant Vello Sieped (Chaos Lord on bike)

And say hello to my newest creation, Daemon Prince Ignatius Grulgor

Updated Army wideshot

Also, picked up some new paints and a painting sponge for the details on these guys earlier today at an art supplies store.

Feedback of all types is appreciated, will post more updates on modeling and painting and probably some more background fluff as well soon.
