I recently got the Renegades knight box and plan to squeeze 3 or 4 Knights worth of blood from the box (via conversion, scratch build, etc). One of them I've been thinking of building into Knight Atropos.

I ask this: How effective is a Knight Atrapos vs a Storm Surge?

I ask as there are multiple Tau players at my FLGS and more often or not there is a Riptide or a Storm Surge somewhere.
Recently in a 750 3 vs 3 match the Tau guy brought a Storm Surge and a handful of troops with the hover defense platform with the railcannon (I cannot recall its name offhand).

I want to know how effective is the Knight Atrapos vs a Storm Surge?
Could it survive the barrage it will absolutely have thrown at it (From said Storm Surge and any other forces that may or may not accompany it).
How well could the Atrapos bring it down? I'm aware its the "Anti super heavy/GC" Knight but I have never seen one in action, so I would like some opinions.

If the Atrapos is not the answer (or is not an effective answer) to this foul Xenos machine, is there another Knight variant you recommend?

Edit: forgot to point out. All Imperial, so not sure if can do twin Gatling (would love too).

Dual gatling guns is the best knightly answer to stormsurge as far I am aware.
Other than charging it with a D weapon that is.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Charging it with a D weapon means that it is dead substantially more often than not.

Getting there can be pretty hit or miss though, as its own D missiles are a bear. The best thing to do is try and get the drop on it....but interceptor....it's really tough to face in a low points game like that

The Atrapos is the Jedi of Imperial Knights, with a Lightsaber, Blackhole cannon, and lot's of defense. However, what it lacks is what the Stormsurge relies on ... range. Any Knight with a gatling gun and a Stormspear rocket pack can kill a Stormsurge, if it survives the D-missiles.

The Ionic Flare Shield should help against the blasts, and the Black Hole Gun has a chance of being D and Vortex so if he anchors and you are lucky you can really make him regret it.
