I'm trying to come up with a background for my renegades and heretics. I've always liked the black legion but have been unable to find anything lore wise suggesting they are anything but a traitor space marine legion. Would it make sense in the fluff if an IG regiment went rogue due to the influence of the black legion? Perhaps even assimilating themselves into the Black Legion itself?

Between

The Black Legion are all traitor Space Marines.

However.

They most certainly have traitor guard and other mortal servants to do their bidding and assist in fighting their wars. They just don't count those non-marine forces as Black Legionnaires.

I belive "cannon fodder" is the word they use for them

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Considering Abaddon is always trying to consolidate forces for another Black Crusade, it would make sense he would traitor regiments under his command.

I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

Yes, he uses human auxiliaries all the time. There's a bit in the Night Lords omnibus where he goes to a prison world to free everyone for new troops. And to shank a few Night Lords, lol

avoiding the lorax on Crion

There the hoards of everyone from veterans equiped with full gear to barely sane made cultists with clubs and home.made armour.

Tanks, artillery, everything. They have the same that the loyalists have. Just not so orginized.

Chaos marines are but a small part of a vast army..

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Thanks for the feedback. Im thinking for the back story it would be an imperial guard regime on Cadia before the 13th black crusade. Chaos began to taint the higher ups and officers of the regime and the general, already in the clutches of chaos began to hear voices which were coming from Abaddon alerting them to the coming invasion. The official forming of the "Black Oath" traitor legion was formed, with Abaddon promising Ascension to daemon hood to those who prove themselves worthy of the dark gods. When the crusade had reached Cadia, the Black Oath amongst the other traitor legions were quick to turn their arms on their once fellow guardsmen.

Although they sustained massive losses, the Black Oath emerged victorious and were successful in aiding Abaddon secure a foothold at the Cadian gate. They continue to replenish their ranks with willing (or mostly unwilling) routed or traitor guardsmen, as well as raiding penal legions for fresh cannon fodder.

Is this fluffy and feasible? Also any suggestions on which Cadian regiments might of went rogue during the black crusade?
