Here was the Tourney post that said what our options are.

Army Points Limit: 402 (no that is not a typo)
Armies must be built using the following selections from your desired codex:
0-1 HQ
1-2 Troops
0-1 Elite
0-1 Fast Attack
0-1 Heavy Support

In addition, all armies must adhere to the following restrictions:
- With the exception of troop choices, no single model may have more than 2 wounds
- No unique or named characters may be taken
- No formations, even if they fit within the above army construction template
- No allies, all units must be from the same codex
- No flyers/flying monstrous creatures
- Vehicles may not have a combined armor value greater than 33 (total of front armor + side armor + rear armor)
- No Forge World or any 30k models (this is a 40k event)
- Psykers are restricted to a maximum of Mastery Level 1, and may only harness Warp Charge 1 powers
- All models must start on the table before turn 1, meaning no reserves are allowed. If a model is required to start in reserves, then it is not allowed
- At most, any roll that passes on a 2+ and is allowed to reroll can only succeed on a 4+ on the reroll.
- Any units that require another unit to be purchased before they are legal ignore this restriction, but still must take up a force org slot.
- Each participant is required to bring at least one printed (on the computer) army list, preferably built using either battle scribe or army builder

The event will support a maximum of 20 participants, and each will be judged on army appearance, sportsmanship, and battle score. Players will participate in a total of 3 matches, each one 45 minutes in length, with a 15 minute set-up period before each round. Players should expect missions to follow a mealstrom-style mission type, with progressive objectives being scored throughout the round, not just at the end. Prizes will be handed out for 1st and 2nd place, along with best appearance and favorite opponent.

(3 in Pistol/ Taser set up, 1 and leader in Sword/Carbine set up)

Ironstrider Ballistarii

No suggestions? I have also Inquisition, Space Marines, or Astra Militarum to run as well.

Combat Patrol is the most fun I've had playing organized 40k!

Skitarii can be great in these small games. Maybe not infiltrators though; that's half your list! Vanguard are great, and Dragoons could be really effective for their points.

I do think Space Marines may be more competitive but not more fun.

Unless there has been an FAQ (and please do correct me if there has), you can't mix and match the loadout of the infiltrators; they all have to have the same weapons.

Ah, well then I mis read and miss modeled that squad. Darn. My local area has been letting me play that combo so far.

At 400 points you don't need a Space marine HQ and certainly not a Techmarine. More boys. You usually want three or four solid units to contest the four Combat Patrol objectives.

If your opponent is ok with you running them mixed, then I see no issue with it. And it's not as if it costs points to mix them.

Well the AM list certainly has boys. And the Skitarii has a middle ground of boys. I chose the Techmarine because he hits across the field with almost instant death and he is 2+/3++/4+++

I changed up my AM idea to just one troop choice.

Platoon Command w/ Bolter, Autocannon, medipak, and Vox
Infantry Squad w/ Flamer, Vox, and Taurox
Infantry Squad w/ Grenade Launcher, Heavy Bolter
Infantry Squad w/ Grenade Launcher, Lascannon
Special Weapons Squad x2 all Grenade Launchers

I am still stuggling between Skitarii and AM for choices. I can't really work my SM to feel right to me. I might do Inquisitor if I can.

Did a test battle. The AM performed pretty well but that was very much luck. So I am going back to my Skitarii.
