Hello Dakka! This Friday I agreed to play a fun, quasi-competitive game against someone who's coming back to the game after a few years break. He's brining his Tau, that's all I know. I've made 2 "Word Bearers" esque fluff lists and I am having trouble deciding which one to field. I am purposely not using the most competitive lists to keep the game fun for my opponent who is coming back in. Which would you take? I'm also always open for critique.

List 1:
CAD

HQ:
Chaos Lord, Terminator Armor, Power Sword, Combi-Melta

Elites:
3x Terminators, 3x Power Sword, 3x Combi-Melta
5x Possessed, Rhino

Troops:
10 Cultists, 10 Auto-Pistols, 10 CCW, Flamer
2x 8x CSM, 7x Boltguns, Melta-gun, Rhino

Fast Attack:
5x Raptors, 2x Flamer, Champ has PF and Combi-Melta


List 2:

CAD

HQ:
Chaos Lord, Terminator Armor, Power Sword, Combi-Melta

Elites:
3x Terminators, 3x Power Sword, 3x Combi-Melta
5x Possessed, Rhino

Troops:
2x 8x Khorne Berserkers, Rhino

Fast Attack:
3x Bikers, 2x Flamer, Combi-Flamer

So the idea is I will be summoning Daemons instead of starting with them, much like how the Word Bearers fluff goes. They fight until they've created enough reason for the Dark Gods to send their minions.

Depends on your opponents Tau list. You are heavy CC without a nasty CC monster. (Your lord is not...) Perhaps a winged prince or lord on a bike or juggernaught. I like list 1 because it will yield more blood tokens. BTW I think to include bikes you have to field 1 unit of flesh hounds.

I didn't want to sink a lot of points into one model. The Lord is going with the Terminators to hopefully buff them so I can take down whatever high priority unit he brings.

As far as the bikes go you're confusing CAD with one of the specific formations. Gorepack, IIRC. Because I'm using a CAD I don't need any specific units.

Fair enough. I think you are very lite on AT so I would think about some meltas on raptors or bikes. If we are going CAD, lose the CSM and just go 6 x min squads of 8 cultists... That is 12 blood tokens for only losing the CSMs and their rhinos. Perhaps a unit of Warp Talons and switch the Lord to jump pack 2 LC or one of the weapons from the artifacts list. Puts him on the board and allows you to use the termies as a pure termicide without losing your lord.
