After making my first piece of terrain im hooked. i wanted to make some scatter terrain and get ideas from others to see what has been done. Post any ideas youve had, pieces youve done or things youve seen around that could make good terrain.
I want to make alot of different pieces and some inspiration from others should do the trick.
My first piece of scatter terrain i have begun working on is below. i found some plastic pipe caps at home depot which looked suspiciously like small storage pods/containers imo.
I notice a distinct lack of what I call "detritus" on 40K boards. The overwhelming majority is gothic etc. buildings which are considered only for blocking LOS and stuffing minis in.
I'd definitely like to see more attention paid to boards, but for quick-play tournaments I guess it just doesn't matter. Nice clutter you've got started. I've done a load of the stuff but not yet for my new 40K army.

I love scatter terrain, really brings a board to life ...I haven't gotten much of a chance to make too much yet though, always too busy painting models
what I have done so far though, is go for a more natural style, and using pretty much only cork tiles, glue, and paint, and a few grass tufts, to make a few smallish rock formations:
Spoiler:
^I made those 5 nearly a year ago now, I could probably do a bit better with them these days, but they do the job...
^that was actually my entry for last month's "unofficial dakka painting challenge" - but all the grots, and the cannon are all magnetised on, so it can just be used as an empty scatter terrain piece
^and this one, well, probably not really useful as scatter terrain, it's actually a base for one of my models, but the technique's still there...cork tile can make great roads...imagine that piece, but say, 1'x6" or something...make a few of them, you've got a pretty nice-looking modular road to run through your board
