How are you liking it? More importantly, have you had fun with it (I'm not quite as concerned about power level)?
I've been eyeing the digital edition for a while now and am *this close* to pulling the trigger but want to make reasonably sure I'll enjoy it. I already have Skulltaker, a mess of Berserkers, about 30 bloodletters and a handful of hounds. I also have Kharn who I understand isn't part of KDK but whom I would likely use as a counts-as warlord, so I feel like I have a decent start. These models NEVER see a table so I though this would be a good way to dust off their cobwebs.
I'd like to ally them to my CSM army which is largely things like Demon engines, Raptors, and Rhino mounted CSM with some deep-striking Hell Brutes (via that Hell brute data-slate). They've gotten stale and haven't seen the light of day so I was hoping this might help revitalize my Chaos fun.
Like I said, I really don't care about power as much as I care about an enjoyable book/army. What your thoughts Dakka?

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Wait, what were we talking about again? Did I ever tell you about the time I gave you five bees for a quarter? That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..." |

It's fun and really gives the vibe of "it's all blood for Khorne."
There are some glaring flaws: lack of upgrade options on heralds/DPs, bizarre design choices (no Karanak or Skarbrand), copypasted Possessed/Helbrute tables, some overcosted units, and so on, but overall quite fun.

I really enjoy the combined Daemon and Chaos worshiper vibe they have and I like the dynamic it makes on the table. They definitely aren't the best army out there, though they have some OK builds. I also really like the whole "summon more stuff as yours dies" thing they have too.

The big issue with/when allying them, is that the Blood Tithe mechanic seriously punishes you for not playing a 'pure' Khornekin force.
When it comes right down to it, it's the ability to reliably generate things like army-wide/near army-wide FnP each turn, while also summoning more daemonic units that makes them truly deadly.
Likewise, the army tends to become heavily gimped when you focus on larger squads and/or more expensive elite units like a Termie or Bloodcrusher unit led by a beefy Lord...
In a Daemonkin army, flooding the table with 'oodles of cheap fodder units is 100x better, since the idea is to keep generating a steady supply of Tithe pts every single turn.
That 250+ pts unit of Berserkers after all generates the same number of Tithe pts as that barely 70pts unit of Cultists. While the 'Zerkers may theoretically kill more (especially in assaults), the hard truth is that like regular CSM's, those 'Zerkers have 0 actual delivery system, making the Cultists a much better buy. (as you can readily put almost 3 units of Cultsits down per unit of naked Berserkers!)
If the Blood Tithe table didn't exist, the army would honestly be as genuinely awful as any basic MoK CSM themed army.

Thanks for the responses guys!
@Experiment 626 - You raise some very good points. This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to find out. Thank you for the input!

I love my KDK army. It's a bit slow at the start of the game but once you get into CC the blood flows. So many points.
It sucks you can't have Kharn. Cheap fodder for blood points, I just picked up some bloodletters to be able to summon.

I brought 98 models to a gt and finished every game with time to spare. You basically skip two whole phases and since most armies suck at cc they dominate that phase.
KDK is a blast.
