i am coming back to 40k after a longer break. i played black templars, back then when they had their own codex and now i want to build up a new list.

this is the list i was thinking about. i havent played it yet. i wanted to ask if someone can give me some advice on what i should improve.

The only glaring "error" is that you've taken the Land Raider Spearhead. Those LR Crusaders could be dedicated transports meaning they get objective secured.

Your opponent will have to deal with LRCs sitting on objectives if they want a chance, and they can be pretty tough to remove.

Personally I'd lose the Dreadnaught, take another small Crusader squad with las/plas and give them the 3rd LRC as a dedicated transport. They can sit back and take pot shots at stuff, and you can use the empty LRC to put your terminators and Captain inside.

3 obsec LRCs charging forward with decent amount of CC power inside is about as good as it gets for Black Templars!

The idea with the dedicated transport landraiders is good. I will rebuild my list around that.

Even though the crusaders could be obsec I would take the formation over that. You need to get across the field and the formation effectively ignores a majority of damage. I would take the formation.

There are trade offs with both choices. I prefer the OBSEC, but I think the only way to know which version is better is to play test it many times.

Yes, I am planing to play both versions a few time. But altough since i am playing malestrom missions most of the time i think the OBSEC version will perform better.
