As everybody knows, BA and my Flesh Tearers are in a tough spot right now. I love playing them, but it's not easy going. Which is why I'm considering playing with Raven Guard rules. I like what I've read of their tactics. I've got plenty of assault marines, some scouts, bikes, some termies, devs, some tanks and transports. I even bought Shrike because I love the model so much. Would I be able to play a fluffy and fun RG list that won't end with me being annihilated in a few turns?

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

I find the strongest raven guard lists tend to be heavy alpha striking lists. Turn 1 assaulting vanguard and assault marines from various formations is brutal. I avoid shrike as he seems pretty lackluster IMO.

Another idea for your flesh tearers would be to run them as Carcharodons. The are pretty much a mix between flesh tearers and raven guard.

Chapter tactics include: Everyone gets fear. All tactical squads can either exchange their bolter for a CQW or buy an extra 1 for 1 extra point a model. They also gain rage after they sweeping advance or make an enemy unit fall back from an assault, but must them immediately consolidate towards the nearest enemy unit they can harm.

They fit the mold for what you are used to and are pretty cool on their own merits.
