am fairly new to War Hammer 40k, and am just starting my Imperial Guard- Astra Millatourm army. A friend and fellow war-gamer told me I was aloud to have a maximum of three Imperial knights, as an ally And I was Wondering if this was true. Thank you for your help

There are different detachments and formations you can take. There are multiple ones that include up to 3, but there is apparently one that includes up to 5 though I am not sure if you can take it as allies. 3 is a pretty safe number, from watching battle reports I think one knight is more than enough in most games
