My 40k skills are lacklustre to say the least as are the skills of two people I usually play with.

I'm attending my 2nd tournament in a few weeks and I want to up my skills.

I looking for two of the nastiest lists for Necron & Dark Angels possible. Neither of my friends are super into list building so it just ends up being very casual (which is generally fine) but I want to play against some really difficult lists to improve my game.

The tournament is 1500 and armies must be bound, outside that I think everything is allowed.

Any help is appreciated!

As Axis suggests, it's difficult to help without knowing more - are you intending to buy, assemble and paint all the relevant models "in a few weeks"? Do you already have significant / moderate / some models ready?

Tournament lists aren't really my thing, but I'd suggest using a search engine to find semi-recent tournaments, have a look at the rankings - they might list the lists used?

Both the guys I play have fairly large armies and anything they don't have we can proxy in, I'm just basically looking for as hard a list to play against as possible for both factions.

Without any ideas of points or opponents... I would recommend a ravenwing heavy list. You can hardly go wrong with a double jink saving core to your force,

I would recommend a ravenwing command squadron and 3 landspeeders w 2 HB and a Dark Shroud then fill it out with bike squads.

Ok I don't know Necrons so here's 100% Dark Angels:

Ravenwing Support Squad formation. Typhoon Missile Launchers on all three Land Speeders.

Ravenwing Strike Force detachment:

EITHER
Librarian, Bike, Force Axe, Level 2, Auspex, optional Shroud of Heroes
OR
Interrogator-Chaplain, Bike, Auspex, optional Shroud of Heroes or Mace of Redemption

Ravenwing Command Squad, six models, Apothecary, optional Champion

Optional Darkshroud, optional Forgeworld Legacy of Glory Battle of Signus Prime

Optional one or two individual Attack Bikes with multi-meltas.

Fill the rest with as many Black Knights as you can get your hands on, in units of 3 or 4 models. Optional melta-bombs.

This army hard-counters Eldar and will run over nearly any shooting army, yes even those with some Ignores Cover. It has a hard time against three Imperial Knights, flying demons, some deathstars, and some Space Wolves.

Legend, I play Tau most likely I'll be playing a riptide wing, drone net & either a T'aunar or doublestormsurge list. this DA list sounds like it'll give me a good run for my money.
