Hey mates, have a simple poll question for you all as there has been some minor changes due to formations, Codex Updates and Supplements, and the recent FAQ's. Basically, question is what Chapter do you run how do you prefer to run your Army in this current edition, as well as the reasons why. Just a fun way to see how fellow Space Marine Players utilize there armies for a friendly debate so let's have at it.

Running Blood Angels. I prefer Rhinos for two reasons.
1) They are Fast which is something regular marines don't get.
2) I usually play Maelstrom and Drop Pods are outclassed in that regard.

I do Drop Pods. Best delivery method for Sternguard. My Blood Angels are mechanized though.

I play DA, and I go mechanized. Because I built one drop pod and said screw that noise. I like the model a lot, but it's very large, and was terrible to build and paint to an acceptable (by me) standard. My Rhinos and Razorbacks were much simpler, and the interiors were much much easier to paint. Even the FW Deimos pattern Rhino was less of a pain to build.

I run a mix of drop pod and mechanized space wolves. But I don't play this current edition so I couldn't say how well it would work.

I like to roll with mechanized because heavy alpha strike armies are frowned upon by my friends in my local meta so I avoid bringing them.

3 pods and the rest is mechanized, too.
I wanted to do an all-pod army, orbital strike theme, something like that, but the drop pod model is really awful to paint and to build. So, for the moment, I stick to 3, one day, maybe I'll have more...
And, effectively, as I do mainly friendly games, I'm less interested in a super heavy alpha strike.

This.
Mechanically pods are very strong, and have a very fluffy theme to them.
On the paintbench, they are my least favorite model. I made it through 3 as well before I snapped.
So I run hybrid list.

With Maelstrom missions, mechanized is better. In Eternal War, pods get more interesting.
Or you can just bring so many drop pods that all of them will be near an objective, using bikes to score those the enemy clean off of pods (a gruesome and long process)

My wolves drop pod. I dislike painting drop pods, but I also dislike painting rhinos and razorbacks. Considering investing in an airbrush to speed the whole thing up.
It's fluffy and it's pretty effective.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Drop pod.
Wolves be getting in their face turn 2 at the latest so throwing some threats in their faces earlier tends to mean less things shooting at the heavy hitters.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go. |

Yeah, I was very excited for my drop pod wolves until I put together and painted my first pod. They are by far my least favorite vfehicle model to paint. (building was ok). You have to paint the exact same thing five times. FIVE. Now times that by the number of pods you plan on taking and it gets very daunting. Fortunately I wanted to run a Landraider with bloodclaws or Terminators so it was easy to limit myself to three pods and everything else mechanized.

I picked other since I have no set Army list as I try to use the codex in it's entirety. So for transportation/mobility I'll use whatever fits - LSS, LRs, Rhino/Razorbacks and Drop Pods all have their uses. I'd say ObSec LSS are my favourites, although Pods are more effective.
I'm currently experimenting with LasPlas Razorbacks in a Fist of Medusa Strike Force (grants PotMS to all vehicles, including RBs and Dreadnoughts).
