Hi guys, so, I've got about 20 of the old style ork warbike just sitting around at the moment (my projects bench currently looks like the parking lot of a biker bar )...I have the original riders for around 5-10 of them, but honestly, they're runty little gits anyway...so I need to get hold of a bunch of riders for these bikes.

the way I see it, I can either try and find a bunch of actual warbike rider orks, or at least the legs, on ebay/other bitz sellers (I have already looked a few times, without much luck)...or find some suitable third-party bitz...or, try to convert say, normal boy legs to look like they're actually riding...

so, I'm just wondering if any of you guys have "refurbished" the old warbikes before? how did you go about it?...anyone got any good conversion tips, or bitz(GW or other) sources?

...if nobody here has any bright ideas, I'll probably just wind up kneecapping some sluggaboyz and fitting them on the bikes as best I can...I figure that'd probably work, with a little trial and error

I'm all ears though!

The old warbikes are so old (over 20 yrs) that they pre-date the 'modern' ork physique style. So I suspect the current ork biker legs wouldn't fit the old bikes, at last without conversion.

Personally I'd:
- chuck out the old-style torsos, heads and arms.
- keep the existing old-style legs you have, bulk them up a little using greenstuff or ammo bags etc, then convert boyz torsos and arms to fit. (You'll have difficulty even getting one arm to fit the handlebars, so leave the other arm waving a weapon.)
- for the bikes you don't have legs for, you're probably stuck with either paying through the nose for biker leg bits, or using a razor saw for extreme conversion of standard boyz legs. (Or check out the loota/burna legs, which have both feet flat on the ground and so may be easier to convert than the boyz walking pose.) If necessary, convert the bikes slightly too, to make the foot pegs reach the bikers' feet Then as above for torsos and arms.

I just dry-fitted a current-model warbike rider on one of the old bikes...it actually seemed to fit surprisingly well...although the old bikes don't actually have footpegs, as the footpegs are part of the old warbike rider's feet, so I'd have to make some footpegs for the bikes, which would be fairly simple. I also tried fitting a couple different boy leg sculpts on the old bikes...the ones with loincloths are no good, but at least one or two sculpts could possibly work...one leg would rest at where the footpeg would be nicely, though the other leg might need a bit of modification...so boy legs could possibly be an option.

...and with careful positioning of the torso/arm, it'd be possible to get one handlebar arm in the correct position, but the other would have to be free, probably holding a weapon or something, which would be fine.

so, due to the high price and apparent rarity of current-model warbike rider legs, and apparent non-existence of third-party warbike rider legs, yeah, it's looking like I'll just have to end up buying a bunch of boy legs, and some warbiker arms, and use some of my stockpile of spare torsos, arms and heads, and just do some converting...

Getting creative with the position of the bikes themselves could help too. Just thinking of how most Ork legs are posed, modelling them with a foot planted on the ground like they're swinging the rear of the bike around might be an idea.

I suspect most Boyz legs will be like the Warboss I've put on a bike (in my P&M blog thread linked below) - they'll fit on a saddle, you will simply need to angle the feet for them to look convincing.

I drill foot and leg, add a little paperclip join that I can bend to angle the foot up. Hopefully this pic will given an idea.

thanks for the tips guys...yeah, I think both of those methods could work fairly well - I'll probably use them both to give me a bit of variety in the mob

- the wire ankle-joint sounds like it could have a wide variety of uses actually, not only for putting them on bikes, but also just for some more dynamic footslogger poses...I'll have to keep that one in mind - nice deffbike in that pic too btw

- those old bikes don't really look that maneuverable, so I can easily imagine orks needing to apply a bit of boot-assisted steering

I think Kromlech has some biker legs, dunno if they'd fit tho

but honestly, maybe you should put them on the old bike like they're surfing now that'd be badash!
