Hi,

So, I had this idea the other day to build an army of 'wolf men' - not the stereotypical werewolf, but a bunch of armed and armoured humanoid wolves who fight rank-and-file like any other organised army.

However, there seems to be a lack of decently priced miniatures that fit this theme. Looking around, I reckon I can grab the bits for the goblin wolf riders and mantic orc ax regiment relatively cheaply, and possibly combine them.

Does anyone out there own some gw goblin wolf riders, and do you guys think that the wolf head could fit onto a mantic orc? Any advice you guys have would be great, because I have neither of these models on hand, and don't want to waste too much money buying lots of bits and pieces just to find what fits!

So - will the wolf head from this: (not my picture)

Fit onto this?: (not my picture either!)

Thanks!

Right, so I managed to find someone who's seen the model, and yeah, the goblin wolf head is waay too big!

However, if anyone else out there is looking for cheap wolfman minis (or 'civilized werewolves'), check out the mage knight gnolls. They're roughly the right scale (picture not mine), and they're cheap! Though... the miniatures aren't all that great, I'm considering taking the head and legs from a mage knight gnoll fletcher and sticking them to another body - possibly a mantic orc, but we'll see.

Now, all I need to do is find a wolf tail somewhere.....

Try the HorrorClix Dire Wolf instead. Better detail, same sizes.

Frostgrave has some plastic gnolls coming out, though i think they might be more hyena than wolf.

That's interesting - I'm definitely keeping my eye on that! I reckon I'll hold off buying those dire wolves to see how these gnolls turn out. Thanks.
