I was goofin around with my list and I decided to come up with a super cheesy deathstar HQ I got:

Chapter master with artificer armor, bike, storm shield, thunder hammer chapter banner
Command squad on bikes(3 veterans, apothecary, company champion) with storm shields and power axes
Chaplain on bike Melta bomb
Librarian on bike lvl 2 power axe melta bombs

Toughness 5, 3+invuln, 4+ fnp because of iron hands, everyone gets, +1 attacks from chapter banner, reroll failed to hits on first round of combat from chaplain, and getting buffs from biomancy Libby. Any tips to make it even cheesier?

So Ive never actually run as Iron Hands before. I like to give my armies their own back story. Namely, they're the Brotherhood of Iron and they're usually a sub chapter of ultramarines. Can someone give me a little explanation of what the gorgon chain/[MOD EDIT - Language! - Alpharius] is?

Amen to that! I do like the Shield Eternal, but the Gorgon's Chain frees up a hand to get a Lightning Claw along with the Fist. Relic Blade is good too though. I have cat-helmeted Iron Hands who have become the Iron Paws (after hanging out with the XIII Company of Space Wolves for too long in the Warp). So they all use claws and fists....and grav guns.

Actually I might recommend changing out the veterans' axes to grav guns. They come in real handy all the time.

You need to run a Fist of Medusa strikeforce. CM with bike powerfist lightning claw artificer armor and gorgon chain. Inside a biker command squad with an apothecary. Add in a conclave (bikes) and biker chaplain for lols. HUGE points sink but funny as heck. That is if you can even stomach using Iron Hands in their current (unfluffy) state completely lacking of anything that is uniquely them.

I know what you mean. Half the fun for me is creating your own chapter and giving them their own commanders and backstory. That's why I've never run any specisl characters. My chapter will earn its glory without the help of other chapters' heros that've already earned theirs

The Burning Blade is the sword you want for AP2 that hits at Initiative and has the Blind USR. Pair it with lightning claws or a Storm Shield.

I was more of referring to the rewriting of IH fluff and army structure as well as the removal of our unique IH only units. I miss the old fluff of Iron Fathers, our reverence of Dreads (should really be a HQ choice for us), Terminator sergeants, ect, ect, ect. Not to mention I HATE Kardan with a passion. Not to mention the Flesh is Weak is really not a very good rule as a whole and doesn't really capture the feel of IH very well imo. TFIW is really only good on multi save, multi wound models with T5 or better. Still pales to necrons RP (which it probably should). If I had the cash, I'd play 30k IH. Unfortunately I like my organs since I could never get a decent bionic replacement for them to start a 30k army.

No, I would never pair it with a lightning claw imo. You are better off with a storm shield as you mentioned or a pistol of some kind. The blinding blade is not a specialist weapon. A grav pistol would probably be a better investment than lightning claws in this instance.

We try to keep the language on this site pg 13.

To this end certain terms and words are unacceptable.

Please exercise some restraint when posting, especially if it involves a "hilarious" chaptermaster name.

Could always go full Deathstar:

Chapter Master: Bike, AA, TH, LC, Gorgons chain
Chapter Master: TH, SE, AA, bike, melta bomb
Command Squad: bikes, 4 gravs, 4 Power axe, 4 storm shields, apothecary
Librarius Conclave:
Librarian: Level 2, bike, Force Axe
Librarian: level 2, bike, force axe, auspex
Librarian: Level 2, mindforge staff

Just try to figure out how to fit it in the iron hands strike force. :p

Honestly, I would choose either choose the gravs or the axes, but not both. Unless this is like a 3k+ game. In that case go with powerfists and grav guns and throw in a chaplain on a bike.

So I ran a 1500 pt game against blood Angels yesterday. I had my deathstar, a dread and two five man scout squads. Besides his two tac squads in buildings my Death Star wiped his entire army(10 man death squad, dread, predator, command squad and warlord, and 6 or 7 man termie squad) and only lost 1 vet out of it. Nothing made it past about halfway through first round of combat haha

I've been using a similar unit as a distraction for the rest of my Army. A simple captain with artifice armor, gorgon's chain, and thunder hammer with a command squad with storm shields, power fists, and an apothecary. The command squad has a 3++ and a 3+++, while the captain haS a 2+, 3++, and a 2+++ at full health. It's an incredibly durable and punchy deathstar with a fairly minimal point investment.
