An armed man has reportedly barricaded himself inside the Kinopolis cinema complex, located in the town of Viernheim in western Germany.
German media reports suggest the man wore a mask and carried a gun and ammunition belt.
Police have said there is an "unclear threat situation" probably involving a weapon at a movie theatre.
A spokeswoman said she could not provide any further information on what was happening.
German newspapers have reported that elite police are on their way to the scene.
One magazine says that a man has been arrested.
Terrorist? Or just a gun toting lunatic? Thoughts are with any Dakkaites who may have been caught up in that or nearby.

Some are saying it was a gas powered rifle and was fired once into the air.
All injuries from tear gas or something.
A lot saying the "shooter" looked "confused".

Not sure about stupid as much as reported the first info they got, which is notoriously wrong. Yet with the almost real time news cycle we've trained them to meet our needs for Information NOW!, and then go back and correct as new info becomes available.
You ought to hear/read initial contact reports from troops. Confusing and fluid situations are confusing and fluid. Doesn't make the reporter stupid, just in a hurry to pass on what is known right then.

Of course not. But modern Islamism is definitely a far-right ideology. There were left-wing Islamic terrorists, most notably involved with the PLO, but they died out in the 1970's.
