Currently running skitari/cult mech and grey knights often already allied but i'm lacking air support. What faction is best preferably with a formation so i can bring in just flyers?
In a perfect world i'm looking for a flyer transport i can use for skitarii as well as a fighter good at aerial attack against other fliers and ground targets, i have a GK stormraven but it's expensive points wise and normally full of terminators.

You don't need to worry about formations - skies of death introduced a flyer-only detachment with a minimum of (one - wrong) two flyer.

That said, there aren't that many choices if you want to stick with imperials.

Flyer transport - Valkyrie, Vendetta, StormRaven, StormEagle, Caestus, Stormwolf.

Fighter - Stormhawk, Thunderbolt (probably), Lighting (probably), Xiphos (probably)

Ground attack with enough dice to be okay against other flyers despite the lack of skyfire - Fire Raptor, Avenger, Vulture (with punisher cannons - only good against AV11 or 10)

for a single faction I'd say Space Marines on account of having the most varity. and you could paint the SM fliers up as grey knights without anyone caring.

Flyer Wing Detachments have to be 2 - 4 models (not 1).

Havent tried the new flight formations, but ive used 2 Raptorwings previously.

Now taking 3 and giving them ignores cover/tank hunter seems solid. My strategy for anti air has always been to ignore it or bait it with my own flyers.

Good point, the airsuperiority detachment requires 1 flyerwing, not1 flyer so it is a two flyer minimum.
