I'm no stranger to painting this giant model, and the client wanted a simple Farsight Enclaves scheme. He provided the base from Dragonforge and Baneblade turret.

I also painted two pairs of the new arm weapons. FW really made this suit an easy build, its much appreciated.

The yellow eyes with the red and blue don't really appeal to me but scenically its very good. The destroyed tank turret under is makes it exceptionally sweet to see.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Nice job, mixed feelings on the turret...the way it's angled makes it almost look like a certain "appendage"...

Very impressive, but the green bits don't gel well with the rest of the scheme.

I would mirror the others on the color choices involving that strange yellow, it doesn't fit the palette. I also would like to see more brush work and far less tacked on OSL, OSL from an airbrush rarely looks right since your projecting color from the airbrush and not from the intended light source which is the opposite of how light reflects from surrounding surfaces. There is also some over spray of white as well as red on the weapons, a metallic between those points would break it up and fix that.

I really enjoy the red though, and I like the style of highlights you chose, it really works. Really cool base as well. I also think you did a nice job with the black.

Loving the base, the burnt effect on the tank turret looks sweet.

As for the battleship itself, I think you've done a great job, though I also think the yellow doesn't suit the overall look very well.

Other than that, looks good!

Hmm the eyes are green so maybe its a display issue.

Im not touching that one. But I will say, it was a matter of the stance he wanted on the base and the base has a curvature to it, so placement options were a little limited.

The colors are clients orders, I personally would have gone with a purple but he has a preexisting army that this needed to fit into.

Thank you sir

Thanks for the reply dude. The pseudo OSL is a necessary evil these days, I will admit. At least in the commission painting world and especially with Tau, its almost a guarantee that the reference pics Im provided
will use that style. That doesnt mean Im a fan of it, but it is a constant and regular request. The 'strange yellow' again may be your display, as I only have an actual yellow on the turret of the base.

Thanks! I do think it's weird that so many are seeing a yellow instead of bright green.

Crisp simple tabletop quality job. Attractive but I can see how easy it's been to paint. While I find a lot of painting studios air-brush heavy jobs to be rather sterile, I can't argue with the results. Quick, effective, and you won't ever find me complaining about more painted stuff being put on a table somewhere. I'd go with a job like this before seeing that thing in bare resin on a table.

So my "meh, airbrushed stuff..." is balanced out with "yay, painted stuff on the table!".

Ah I see, yea critiquing commission work is kind of pointless, since I have no idea what the client specifically wants. I do commission mini sculpting for a wealthy man with strange taste in projects to say the least. Sometimes it saps motivation even But depending on the standard this client was looking for I'd bet he is one happy camper which is the important thing.

PS I hate that thing rule wise ha ha. T9 10w 2+ 4++ 5+++ my arse

I totally get that. I think that this kind of stuff definitely has its place.

Oh I absolutely hate the rules (or point value rather)

I do think commission work should be critiqued, but its difficult. People dont know how much I charged the client, and ultimately I think the cost to time/quality ratio is a defining factor. Like my site says, Im a mid tier painter who will one day try to rise to the surface,
but for now I have an extensive portfolio that shows the range Im comfortable doing and its very up front with pricing. So I think its fair to judge what a commission painter/studio advertises as it's say 'table top standard', because it's their "I can do this with a
quick turnaround, make a profit, and provide a tasteful/not obviously rushed result" service.
