The grim darkness of far Fenland

I'm soon to be painting a rhino (at some point followed by a razorback and an RT land raider). My chapter's paint scheme is mostly bolter metal with red as the secondary colour. Black and gold are the next two most prominent colours. This has already left me with issues on how to paint equipment, as if I go with the default metal or black those details just blend in to the rest of the armour.

So that brings me to my tanks. How should I paint my tracks when the rest of the tank is already silver? I think this will be a more noticeable problem with the old up n over tracks on the land raider. My normal armour is bolter metal, then Nuln oil, then bolter metal again, then enchanted silver highlights (some GW, some Coat D'Arms paints), so I was thinking maybe stopping at Nuln oil and add a sepia wash or something similar. What do people think?

Also, how do you normally weather tracks? I'm just looking for light weathering, just so they don't look like they're straight out of the factory!

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)
Eldar - Biel Tan 2000pts
Space Wolves 1500pts

My Blog - mostly 40k, some HeroQuest

Yeah use a black or brown and then use weathering powders to set your contrasting colours
