See title - I have an old IG banner bearer that I want to turn into a statue of "some unknown hero of a now ruined city that has been forgotten" type deal, but so far all I've been able to find are full sized garden statue plinths or ones that are the wrong shape (the kind you would mount a ship in a bottle on). I'm looking for a roughly square plinth - similar to that of the statue of liberty but less detailed - to paint as stone along with the guy.

Any thoughts? I would need to be able to cut a groove into the top to fit the metal strip connected to the guardsman's feet (old school model), I don't trust superglue to hold the metal figure in place otherwise, especially as I'm not the best at safe storage

Thanks in advance!

I would source some cheap pink insulation foam and cut the squares yourself to make them into the shape you need.

Then just prime it and paint it. Probably cover it in some sawdust to give it a stone sort of look then prime and paint.

Tim on Miniature Heroes makes plinths for minis at a good price. Have a look on the site and if you can't see the ideal size just message him and I'm sure he would make you what you are after.

Try this: http://www.modeldisplayproducts.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=157

Also, instead of trying to cut a groove in the plinth, clip the metal strip off and pin it to the base.

A new day, a new time zone.

Armorcast makes a decent looking plinth. http://www.armorcast.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=plinth

A 40K sized model would look a little small all by his lonesome atop it, but if the 'statue' included a little bit of terrain, it'd look okay.

*edit*
For size reference, here is a statue I made with it a while back, using a daemonhunter from the old inquisitor game.

Basic one? Coke bottle top, stick onto stacked squares of card. Classic way to use up old monopose Marines. Making some soon so I'll post pics.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.
