I'm starting to collect 40K and decided to pick up Khorne-based Daemons as my first army. I'm somewhat set on what my first (semi-competitive) army will be like and here is the core:

Primary Detachment: Daemonic Incursion

Command

- Kairos Fateweaver, 300pts
Warlord

Core

Murderhorde, 795pts

- Herald of Khorne
Exalted Daemonic Reward (Grimoire), Exalted Locus of Wrath, Juggernaut

- 8x 5 Flesh Hounds of Khorne

Auxiliary

- Karanak, 120pts

Total: 1215pts

The game plan of the core army is to form a pseudo deathstar with Herald and Kranak in a group of Hounds and giving them 2++. Kairos circles the skies providing utility and support and shooting D-lazers at high AV targets. What I need your help for is deciding what to include in the army to round out the 1500pts. I've been juggling between the following two but all suggestions and advice are welcome.

- Lord of Change, 280pts
Psyker Level 3, The Impossible Robe

or

- Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage, 285pts
Lesser Daemonic Reward

I still haven't bought any of the models but I am about to order the core army today or tomorrow from online, so obviously I have no idea of my local meta yet. Do you think Kairos is able to be usefull with only 4+D6 dice or is the D- thirster necessary in the meta with all the Knights and whatnot running around. All help is welcome!

I'm in the same boat.
Those options appeal to me too. Also good is a daemon Cad with horrors for warp charge or nurglings for infiltrating obsec

Fateweaver could use some more warp charges and he can do some serious lifting. I'd probably go with 2x 11 Pink Horrors with a Level 2 Herald. Should come out close to the points you have left.

I play a murderhorde with Fateweaver too. I like the idea of getting more warp charges with the cad. Although I would suggest giving the herald a lesser reward to get the axe and moving the grimoire onto someone else. That ap2 really helps.
you could also add more dogs to your super unit.

The thing I have the most trouble with is armour 13 walkers so mostly knights because besides Fateweavers d shot there's not much else that can hurt them.
