So with enough leaks of the general's handbook out to start thinking about lists (new and exciting concept). So for any who do not know, you have to pick an allegienece, and only 1. So if you want stormcasts you are both stormcasts and order and you have to pick one. My initial thought is that why would you ever not just stick with the a grand alliance as your alliegence choice?

If you stick with the high level you can pick units from any subfaction that are also part of the grand alliance. Want seraphon with cannons and hydras? Legal. Otherwise you narrow yourself hilariously. What are people's thoughts at this point?

The point of picking the smaller factions for your allegiance is that you get additional selections for battle line units within that faction.

There is certainly nothing wrong with choosing a grand alliance as your faction but you are stuck with basic battle line units only.

And for players like myself theme>any other reason to play that army

Because some people prefer a themed force, plus you might have a better set of Allegiance Abilities by going Stormcast Eternal rather than Order.

At least with storm cast there are lots of synergies within the army in the form of stormcast only rules. Besides which the formations are single faction only (at least for now), and some of the formations are silly good, like the one that makes stormcast immune to battle shock (ATSKNF style).

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

Because

BIG IS BEST, ork crush all in their way, and there is only two places in the world all thats mine and all thats goin to be mine.

Ork will always have a soft spot in my heart and soul biggest meanest rule, care little for anything other then a good fight. End times proved that if you surrender and submit they kinda stop caring about ya and run to the next fight. And IRONJAWZ are even BIGGER.

I look at it this way I play for 12 hours a year, paint for about the same lol. And have them on my shelf for 350 days a year.... They need to be pretty.

'Murica! (again)

Maybe it's my player type but I don't get why you would only select GA. My Fyreslayers get a better range of options. If and when I play this version.
Shrug

...but yes, Orruks of any type is da best...can't argue with that.

I can't seem to find the post now, but don't you get special rules if you keep within one of the smaller factions (Deathlords instead of Death Grand Alliance, or Stormcast Eternals instead of Order Grand Alliance)?

They talk about it here:

Certain units get battle line if all of your units have the same keyword. For example in a khorne army the brutes become battle line, so you can have a gak load of monsters. I don't know how optimal that is, but It can lead to some cool army comps. It's interesting because the more focused your list is the more free within the source material you can be. I'm hoping it converts some of the knights to battle line in the stormcast because 4 hq feels a little cramped in a hero focused army.
