Veteran Inquisitor with Xenos Alliances

I know squats... but i was just wondering if someone could point me to one of the older GW books that has fluff on the Squats. In particular I want to research their different home worlds, whether names were given to any of them or any distinctions were made... I'm interested in the nature of characters names. Really basic stuff since there doesn't seem much to go on.
Any helps appreciated. Thanks.

There is also the Ork and Squat Warlords Epic supplement, the only actual source book Squats ever had.

The most info by far for squats was in epic .. they were padded out the most there.
Here is a link of all the minis plus the white dwarfs that covered them
http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Squat_-_Collectors_Guide#Epic
There is also a novel "Space Marine" by Ian Watson. It's a very good book but 1/ 3rd of it is staged on a squat home world. You learn a lot from it.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Space-Marine-Warhammer-40-000/dp/185283840X Automatically Appended Next Post: I meant to add: If you want to know names. The first link shows the miniatures names. Back then minis had names. They are clearly daft but they have tongue in cheek names like gun manufacturers and film stars and even captain kirk. But you get the sort of idea if you read the entire list of what you can expect by way of names.
But 95% of the "vibe" of the Squats was captured by Ian Watson in that "Space Marine" book. I'm surprised others haven't mentioned it it's by far and away the best 40k novel out there. By some considerable margin. Rather odd people don't know of it.

Thanks. I'll have to read through all of those.
So far what I'm finding frustrating is how often the fluff just says "Squat Homeworlds" over and over again without naming any of them.

You arent' going to find alot more specifically about the Squat homeworlds. When Squats were around almost every faction still had ALOT of unsaid mystery and undeveloped backstory. Even with constant WD articles and various supplements, the whole 40k universe was alot more open ended back then. By the time second edition rolled around and armies began to get Codices with detailed histories Squats were gone.
I agree that the "Compendium" should be your first purchase. It's the red book. Not to be confused with the "Compilation" which is a yellow book that is also cool and has Genestealers in it, but doesn't have much/any information about Squats.
I'll have to check, but I think that the Codex Imperialis has alot of repeat info from the Compendium. However, it does have a bit more standardized weapons, stats etc and gives a much better idea of what Squats might have looked like if they had survived into later editions.
Thanks to those who suggested the other sources and articles. I'm slowly building a Squat army, but the only sources I have are the Compendium and the Codex Imperialis.

Seconded. Worth it just for the talking Zoat, or the scaavy ganger who became an Imperial Fist...

Or the high born who became a fist.
Still the most accurate description of recruiting a marine. Beep boop, body is suitable.
