Hey, I am thinking about converting my heavy bolters into custom multi meltas, what do you think of this super rough idea?

The only problem I see is that ammo drum. Kinda draws away from the Melta gun look, I think.

Yeah, if you can add some detail to the ammo drum to make it look more like some sort of energy cell, or change its shape to look less like an ammo drum, that would be better.

I'll paint it to look like a big version of one of those watch batteries.

Does the BaC set come with meltabombs? maybe you could use those to create a powerpack to replace the magazine here?

I suddenly had a vision of an indexing magazine of melta-bomb shaped "cells" slung underneath like a grenade launcher drum.
Then use a large single nozzle from the "Devil Dog" from IG/AM.
That would be a mean looking melta!

It would be of course a "Squat" creation:
