so with the recent leaks of the Generals handbook that everybody can find, I thought of a few lists for the 1,500 point mark. My main army I played was soulblight and I would love to keep it that way, but I understand if I need to expand into the other Death factions. Please note I won't post the reported point costs with the units. so, without further ado, here are a few lists that I thought up. :
___________________________________
Soulblight Summoning list:

General Vampire Lord mounted on Nightmare with +1 Death Trait ability and undying ring artifact
Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon with Blood Chalice, Sword and shield, Tomb blade artifact

Battleline: Blood Knights with Banner, Musician and Champion
Battleline: Blood Knights with Banner, Musician and Champion
Other Chocie: Vargeists

Summoning pool: 240 points
Total points: 1,500 points

The idea here is that I only take soul blight units for that alligence, getting me blood knights as troops. Then once battle begins I can start pulling units from other factions at a whim, though Mainly the idea is going to be x3 squads of dire wolves and a cairn wraith, or Hex Wraiths and a cairn wraith. The general tactics is to hit hard, hit fast and go for the nads with high damage troops and heroes, with the Vampire General raising troops and the Dragon lord shielding himself to attack.

Knights and militia:

General Vampire Lord mounted on Nightmare with +1 Death Trait ability and undying ring artifact
Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon with Blood Chalice, Sword and shield, Tomb blade artifact

Blood Knights with Banner, Musician and Champion
Blood Knights with Banner, Musician and Champion

BattleLine: 30 man Sword Skeleton Horde with Champion, Musician and Banner
BattleLine: 20 man Sword Skeleton Horde with Champion, Musician and Banner

Points: 1500 points on the nose

Like the idea above, but this time no summoning at all (unless I take 10 skellies out of the 30 man mob and get some points for summoning (or just bringing a cairn wraith/ Banshee or dire wolves something)) The general tactics being that the skeleton Hordes hold units in place with the General near them, making them much harder to kill while giving them +1 to hit, along with them getting extra attacks from their numbers and the Vamp Lord's command abilities. Idealistically, the Blood knights hit the flanks and the zombie lord does what he does best.

the Fallen Princes of BlüdGrave

General Vampire Lord mounted on Nightmare with +1 Death Trait ability and undying ring artifact
Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon with Blood Chalice, Sword and shield, Tomb blade artifact
Vampire Lord on Abysall Terror with lance, shield and an artifact of some kind. (still has soulblight in it's keywords!!)

Battleline: Blood Knights with Banner, Musician and Champion
Battleline: Blood Knights with Banner, Musician and Champion
Other: Vargeists

total: 1480

So pretty much a copy/paste of the first list, only this time we have 3 Vamps of soul blight, adding the abysal terror vamp to use his magic and launch units up the field at the enemy, as well as help kick arse. can drop vargeists for something else like summoning black knights or hexwraiths. Also, the only thing keeping this from being real is the fact I would need to convert something for it.
_____________

annnd that's all the lists I could think up following the theme I wanted to do. what do you guys think?

"Do you really think 7th edition was the best edition?"

"Yes, and I'm tired of thinking otherwise."

Soulblight looks very cool (Blood Knight Battleline wow), but there are some issues with your choices.

1) Only one hero may be given an artifact. You must choose between having the Tomb Blade or the Ring
2) Same goes for traits, only one hero

But there is also a major downside to Soulblight you didn't take into account. You can only gain the benefits of one Allegiance. If you declare Allegiance: Soulblight you must relinquish Allegiance: Death, which means you don't get to pick any trait at all since that is a bonus you get for being Death. But if you choose to declare as Death then you don't get Blood Knights as battleline since they require you to declare as Soulblight.

well, that was very unclear. I thought it said any hero can take a relic, and I thought that as long as your using an army made out of the death faction that you would be getting the faction's abilities because everything is Death, even if it is just a subfaction.

Yeah its a bit confusing, but there is a rule in the matched play area that says if your army qualifies for more than one Allegiance, you must choose to declare for only one. In order to get Blood Knights as Battleline you must declare as Soulblight, meaning you cannot declare as death.

For items, they are not tied to your Allegiance declaration so as long as your army is all DEATH you can access them. But it specifically says you may choose one hero to grant a single item to. There are ways to get more items, for every Battalion Warscroll you run in your army, you are permitted to grant an additional item to a character.
