Remember back when Chipotle had to close their resteraunts because of salmonilla outbreaks? Well, the fun's not over for them. Apparently a senior executive decided he needed more than the current selection of tacos and burritos.

Chipotle executive making $4.3 million a year is indicted in huge NYC cocaine bust
A senior Chipotle executive has been indicted in relation to an alleged drug-trafficking ring in New York City, the company confirmed to Business Insider.
Chipotle Chief Marketing and Development Officer Mark Crumpacker was one of 18 "repeat customers" charged on Thursday with allegedly buying cocaine from a drug-delivery service that operated out of Manhattan's Lower East Side.
All of the alleged buyers were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to indictment papers obtained by Business Insider.
Many of the defendants' names were redacted from the documents, including Crumpacker's.
Crumpacker has been placed on leave, Chipotle told Business Insider in a statement:
"At the moment, we know very little about these charges. Due to the nature of the situation, Mark has been placed on administrative leave. We made this decision in order to remain focused on the operation of our business, and to allow Mark to focus on these personal matters. Mark’s responsibilities have been assigned to other senior managers in his absence."
The Manhattan district attorney's office charged three people for allegedly operating the cocaine-trafficking ring: Kenny Hernandez, 35, Felix Nunez, 27, and Oscar Almonte, 29.
They are accused of selling more than $75,000 worth of cocaine over the course of a year, according to the charging documents.
Customers regularly paid between $200 and $300 for the delivery service, and bought the drugs in bodegas, hotels, and Duane Reade convenience stores, according to the indictment papers.
According to the Manhattan district attorney's office:
"Members of the ring allegedly used car services to deliver the drugs to buyers, including to delis, restaurants, bars, apartments, hotels, and the buyers' workplaces. The defendants delivered to locations across Manhattan, including the Lower East Side, the Upper East Side, Chelsea, the Financial District, and Midtown, as well as areas of Brooklyn and Queens. Many of the sales took place in delis or Duane Reade and CVS pharmacies. Customers generally paid between $200 and $300 per transaction."
The New York Daily News first reported on the drug bust.
Crumpacker, 52, was named chief marketing officer of Chipotle in 2009.
He made an estimated $4.3 million in 2015.
Ah, schadenfreude, you serve me well.

I like to imagine him eyeballing his dealer with disdain when he only gets a small scoop of cocaine.

Many get their drugs legally though. Plenty of doctors are willing to prescribe something nice without too many questions.

Not that I'm aware of or can google quickly. As far as I recall, the last big politician to get busted for cocaine was "drug-test-welfare-recipients" proponent Trey Radel, but that was a few years ago, and he was a republican.
Personally I assume a significant percentage of every successful politician regardless of a party affiliation would piss hot if tested, since generally congressmen and senators are fairly wealthy.

And since those are inflated police prices, the real amount was probably like 40,000. In a year. Less then the average American makes, decidedly tiny cocaine dealing.
Do people not like Chipotle? It's not great by any stretch, but I'll take it over say Subway or Arby's if I have to eat something like that anyday.

I like that the thread title specifies that he bought cocaine from a drug-trafficking ring. As opposed to what? A local cooperative? State-run dispensaries?

It would be a ring, as opposed to an independent dealer. C'mon, don't be intentionally obtuse

Are there a lot of 'independent' drug dealers out there?
Aren't they all, more or less, to some degree, part of some ring or another?

Well, it depends I'm sure. There is a certain benefit to becoming a franchise owner of a well established ring: established supply lines, set territory, benefits of marketing. But franchise fees and corporate ownership can make things difficult. True bootstrappers will start their own small business in the spirit of the free market system and try to compete with the big guys. But you have to be careful, if you think McDonald's lawyers are bad, just wait until you get a visit from the McCocaine legal team.

Depends on the drug. Cocaine is brought in and distributed so they're all mostly rings. Meth can be home grown so you can have individuals. Local dealers can also buy from different suppliers and not be part of the supplier's ring.
