Hey everyone. I am now on a mission to make an army themed on Vikings. I'm going to be using Ork rules but I want to model and base them off human Vikings.
I have no idea what figures to use or what bits I could use to customise them and such; that's why I'm here. Could you guys help me make this army?
I'd like to make them out of mostly Games Workshop figs, as I'd like them to be tournament worthy.
If any of you know of any figs I can use/parts of other kits I could use and possibly do a kit bash army, I'd really appreciate the help

Cheers everyone

Catachans mixed with Maraduers? Make them a renegade Guard army?

Fantasy marauders are probably going to be your go-to for bulk troops.

Space wolves, CSM, and even orks will probably yield a number of useful things as well.

I'm with these guys. The fantasy marauders will give you a bunch of weapons and cloaks. Generally here in the USA you can order the cloaks on their own as bits, and with a little work they fit anything. A unit of orks in that cloak would be awesome? Same with the marauder weapons. Also you might look for a bits store selling Ogre kingdom arms. I used them on my Space leopard bikers to give them really buff arms, which fits orks as well. Here is a link to my Space leopard gallery, the marauder cloaks are on my scouts, and the bikers have the ogre arms. Any questions I'd love to help. Oops I realize these are Chaos warrior cloaks, but just as useful!

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

Your project is interesting but very vague as to what you want to do. I'm assuming you want a horde of choppy melee dudes?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Chaos Marauders is gonna be your kit though. It would help if you'd let us in on the fluff. Are they just Vikings? Are they Guard from a Feudal/Death World? Are they renegades? What makes them as strong as Orks?

I'd make sure to find Wolf Scout heads. They'll give you a bunch of techy heads with beards and mohawks and stuff that'll fit on Marauder and Guardsmen bodies well. Some of the Khorne Bloodbound stuff that's come out may be of use too.

So for those who want to know more about the army

The fluff:
They are a massive group of natives to Fenris who have united under one banner, lead by a man they call "King Ragnar" after the Space Wolf captain.
Fenris is too harsh and uninhabitable so they seek better land elsewhere to flurish. Whether they're seen as renegades, I don't know, but to them they aren't. They believe in the imperium and follow the Space Wolves dearly.

Play Style:
I want lots of close combat choppy dudes haha. It doesn't have to be overly powerful, but I'd like it to be playable. That's why I picked Orks, because I've noticed that, while they are hardly massively competitive, they're still playable.

I thought that this fluff suited the Orks, as natives of Fenris are really strong, giving them a reason for the Ork strength. I can also give them wagons and trukks, modelling them as long boats with wheels (hopefully somehow making that look cool haha) or even just sailing through land (giving them bases where the land is being cracked by the hull of the ship).

This could also work with their mob mentality also, all being equals, apart from the King/warboss and his Earls/nobz, and the less there are, the more likely to run they are, with the Earls trying to keep them in check. And finally the "survival of the fittest" mentality of the Vikings totally superimposes over the Ork mentality of "biggest is best".
Oh and Weird Boyz would work great as Seers with their unstable nature.

I totally agree with Marauders being the main state of the troops. They have big enough muscles and lots of Viking-esk looking stuff. Though I'd probably replace the horned helm heads with something else (like the wolf scout heads someone suggested) so they're a little more authentic. And also those capes look really sweet, and I'll definitely use them on the Earls and possibly even King Ragnar

Yeah that's why I said I'd replace them (get rid of them) to be authentic, because Vikings didn't have them
