Yesterday we decided to try out the Generals Handbook point system. 1000 points a side. I took my Ironjawz, and fought against a Khorne army.
For the Campaign we plan to run it as points per model, adhering to the min unit amount. This will fix issues like Dryads in boxes of 12 and the other boxes with weird numbers.
We did the Battleplan Tornado of Destruction.
Ironjawz were..
1 Megaboss
10 Ardboyz 2x Choppa
10 Ardboyz 2x Choppa
10 Ardboyz Big Choppas
1 Warchanter
5 Brutes
War Batallion Ardfist
Khorne was
1 Leader on a Chariot
3 Bloodcrushers
3 Bloodcrushers
10 Blood Letters
20 Bloodletters
20 Bloodletters
Turn 1 - Orruks get first turn in the mission, so I moved and ran. Khorne moves up, then charged with the bloodcrushers. They smashed into two groups of Ardboyz, the Brutes, and the Megaboss. MY megaboss took a big hit from them all suffering 5 wounds.I piled in like any good orruk would do for some scrappin and took out half of the crushers.
Turn 2. - Nearly all of my units were within 3 of his guys that remained so they charged in also getting to a unit of 20 bloodletters and his khorne champion on the chariot. The warchanter buffing the one unit of ardboyz for +1 to hit. I also called the Waagh!
The crushers fell, the brutes took most of the unit of 20 bloodletters out by themselves. The Ardboyz killed the champion from the sheer amount of attacks. He tried to drop the Megaboss but with just one crusher on him, he luckily lived.
After that turn it was close to being over. We continued a turn more but there was not many khorne left and still tons of ironjawz.
Overall, It played very well and felt balanced. There was not a lot of strategy, being two of the most melee focused armies there is. I was happy with how the Ironjawz played. They are meant to be the elite of the elite, and it felt like that.
The traits we rolled for didn't really come into effect at all. He got to use his general ability twice a turn which didn't help, and I got to control monsters which there were none of. (We randomed them)
I am very excited to start the month long campaign and get mt guys painted up!
