Hi, me and a friend are still pretty new to playing warhammer and have just started using tactical objectives.

We've been wondering over the wording of "...an enemy unit was completely destroyed..." on a few of the objectives.

Does that mean:

You have to destroy an enemy unit during the required turn/phase that's currently at full heath with no wounds or casualties, therefore completely destroying it

Or

Simply destroying an enemy unit during the required turn/phase regardless of whether some the unit's models have been removed as casualties or have wounds

I personally interpret as the first, however I think this is silly as therefore it means if you've been chipping away at your enemy and all their units have at least one unsaved wound and you draw a card saying "...an enemy unit was completely destroyed..." you wouldn't be able to achieve it and have to it discard it, which would suck. So I therefore think it's the second one.

Basically the answer to this determines if I drew or lost our game yesterday so it's very important..

It is explained clearly in the first chapter of the BRB. Second understanding.

Take a read of the relevant section on Page 13 of the Rule Book. It describes the definition of 'Completely Destroyed'.

Simply destroying an enemy unit during the required turn/phase regardless of whether some the unit's models have been removed as casualties or have wounds.

This is the correct interpretation because nowhere does any objective that requires "...an enemy unit [to be] completely destroyed..." also impose the condition that the target unit must be at 'full strength' (i.e. not suffered any wounds and/or casualties).
