It is nice that the points system allows this kind of meeting. It doesn't require players to make investments in time and money to have historic opponents.
LADG seems to be causing a resurgence in Ancients. People are dusting off armies that have been on the shelf for decades because they are viable again.

One of the reasons I am playing LADG, is the rounds are 2.5 hours, as opposed to Warrior's 3.5 hours. Another is that there doesn't seem to be any "Killer" armies, so the variety of armies have gone up as people are breaking out their historical favorites as opposed to what can win favorites.
