Here's the scenario: I have an Aquila Strongpoint with Macro cannon and I have Asmodii as my warlord (I know, but hear me out). I have Asmodii embarked in the Aquilla, he fires the macro cannon using his BS and then because he is my warlord and comes stock with his warlord trait, he has precision shots (which I don't think helps or applies to this situation) and ignores cover. So I'm now effectively dropping 2 Large D plates per turn at BS 5 with ignores cover. Is there any reason this doesn't work?

From the Emplaced Weapon rules - "All relevant special rules from the firing model and the weapon are used."

So I'm going to go with "Yes, it works". Nasty.

Or stick a vindicate in for ignore cover and bs8...

The problem with a vindicate is their ignores cover rule is only for "to hit" rolls. The verbiage didn't sound like it would work with blast weapons.

I've just looked that up. It's a really weird way of wording what should have been "When not making snapshots, the Vindicare has the Ignores Cover special rule.", I wonder if you're right that it was written that way to exclude Blasts... still weird.

Putting a Firespear Strike Force in there for double the shots is pretty mean too.

Codex: Space Marines formation. It came with the Start Collecting boxed set.

Looking at the rules for this, can it actually effect a unit embarked in a building? With the way the FAQs are treating aura abilities?

It isn't an aura ability. You pick a unit within 12" of the captain. Possibly still limiting, but it isn't quite the same.

Fire spear doesn't work anymore sadly.

The best by far is a dark reaper exarch... Fast shot and ignores jink....
