I'm on the fence on purchasing a Y'vahra but wanted input from people who play the unit. I usually run two Riptides in my lists (1500, 1850) but considering dropping one for this beast.

So for those who have it, is it collecting dust or is it almost an auto include?

Best suit tau have. I still use a Cad and the infiltration cadre. Retaliation cadre too if we are playing enough points.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

Considering its about the most broken unit in the game I'd say it's worth fielding. Just don't plan on having many friends after you use it.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

I think the KV139 or Stormsurge are a "bit" better, considering both get D weapons, and are GMCs. (But yeah, the Y'vahra is a great suit still)

Have to disagree here and this is coming from someone who has both used them and played against them. Unlike the other Riptide variants or the Stormsurge this thing has to get within 12 inches to utilize its weapons. This makes it much more vulnerable to returning fire as there's more in range and it has one less wound.

Wraithknight would like a word with you.

In any case, considering the Y'vahra, its assumed the upcoming Tau/Admech IA book is right around the corner, and its suppose to contain (among other things) the Y'vahra's final rules, and induction of tau FW units into formations, so it might be for the best to wait for that.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.
