While making a rice paddy for Ronin I have run across an interesting problem. I used Tacky Glue (which is sort of like a stronger pva, but over all pretty similar) to glue down some tufts to make the rice growing up out of the water. After letting that dry throroughly I poured on a thin layer of Woodland Scenic's Realistic Water. That covered okay, but all the glue now shows up as bright white blobs/dots in the water essentially ruining the paddy.
Has anyone else had problems with Realistic Water and various glues and if so how did you handle it?

The problem is that tacky glue is not waterproof and has become tacky again because of the water effect stuff. It'll not help now, but use a wood glue like elmers in the future and that should stop this from happening.

PVA will gas through the realistic water (which is just acrylic pouring medium) over time so even after it's cured I would seal it before pouring.

I just wouldn't use PVA (wood glue is PVA too). It's not a very stable glue. If it's something that doesn't need to be super strong (since it's submerged under layers of water effects) I'd just use a water effects product as a glue to hold the grass down before pouring more water effects over the top. EDIT: I haven't tried it myself, but if it's the really thin type of water effects and you plan on building up thick layers, maybe you could just hold the grass down with a blob of paint the same colour as the bottom of your water feature, it should be enough to hold it until you build up the water effects which will set it in place properly.

PVA and superglue are both fine for gluing down underwater 'stuff', but then you must seal it all thoroughly with a good gloss varnish before applying the water effects. Generally I do at least 3 good coats (really the only way to do this is airbrush). This helps your 'water' flow off the stuff - you need to pour VERY SLOWLY to avoid traping air.
