Ok,so I have lived my 30k life the hard way without books... Now that I can I'm going to buy them but wanted to make an absolute double check before I make a purchase. (Ended up buying an IA book that was made back in 6E, while it was 7E )

So from what I gather there's this:



Which books would I need to have the complete rules for Iron Warriors and Mechanicum (we'll assume all flavors).
Are those books updated yet? Does anyone know when HH7 comes out? (I need them Thousand Son's)

To get the complete rules for the Iron Warriors you would need either the Age of Darkness Legions book or Book 3 for the Iron Warriors rules (AoD legions will be more up to date, for example it has the Iron Circle automata); and the Legiones Astartes Crusade Army List book which is getting updated soon (this month maybe or soon anyway. I think they said it would be available at the open day this month). I don't know if the updated one will have a different name.

For the Mechanicum you just need the Mechanicum red book.

Iron Warriors: Crusade Army list (Update due super soon since FW is teasing them on the 'blog' portion of their website) and the Legions Red Book. Book 6 for the second IW RoW. You may be better off 'printing' the page off from.... somewhere.
Mechanicum: Mechanicum red book + book 6 (FW has this nasty habbit of shoving mechanicum into every book, so....)

HH Book 7 comes out this Winter, with (apparently according to FW) Russ coming out shortly before, and Magnus the month afterwards :(

Do you guys create your own Scenarios or themes for games? Me and Gore Grandpa have a pretty cool one.

But to remain semi on topic, What books would I need for World Eaters? I would assume similar books?

Same books as him: Legion red book, crusade list red book, and book 6 for 1 page (2 since there is a fun loyalist WE character in book 6)


As to your second comment: 40k (and 30k) shines the best when you play using custom scenarios. "Oh noes! we gotta save those remembrancers!" or "we gotta save as many civilians as possible" or any number of other combinations make the game more thematic, more fun, and all around more entertaining IMO. One kinda scenario I wanna try out is an 'convoy' scenario where one side has a 12" wide strip along the center of the board to deploy, the attacker has 12" on either long edge to deploy. The defender has 3 (or some number) of light vehicle objectives (2 HP AV: 11/10/10) that they must drive off the 'goal' short edge, if that makes sense. To better theme the match, vehicles and walkers need to be facing the same direction, towards one of the board edges. no defenders can deep strike, the 'objectives' must be at least 36" away from their goal board edge (i.e. ~center of the "convoy".

We had a similar Scenario in mind

One player has an 'Armoured Column' consisting of all vehicles (No flyers and infantry must be in transports) No Fast Attack either (Me and my IW)
-HS Vehicles give up 2VP, all other vehicles give up 1VP

The other player is the 'Interceptor' they can use whatever but are limited to 1 HS, but can have up to 4 FA. No Super Heavies (Gore and his WE)
-HQ's give up 2VP, Fast attacks and flyers give up 1VP each.

The Armoured Column deploys no further than 36" forward and cannot deploy within 6" of the table edge.
The Interceptor must start with half their army in reserve.
