Subject: What is a D-Scythe, how does it work?

So Eldar Distortion weapons basically open a temporary vortex into the Warp so it's easy to imagine Wraithcannons or D-Bombards targeting a point and forcing open a vortex right there but what about the D-Scythe? On the table top it's represented with a flamer template and the only thing I can think of is that it opens a vortex right infront of the Wraithgaurd and sucks in everything infront of it, the problem here is that such vortexes are always described as sucking in everything around them, which would include the Wraithguard.
So, has anybody got a better idea on how the D-Scythe works?

Essentially:
A D-cannon opens a 'point vortex' at the centre of its blast, which is not at the 'muzzle' of the cannon but at the target.
A D-Scythe opens a 'line vortex' from a few metres in front of you to a few metres beyond that, which you can sweep across the enemy (hence 'scythe'). It's not opened up immediately in front of the wraithguard but a couple of 'inches' in board terms.

The D-Scythe does not fire in the real-world at all. All energy discharge actually occurs in the warp. It attacks the enemies souls, severing them from their bodies.
Picture a Wraithguard firing their Scythe, and absolutely nothing happening except a low humming. Then, every living thing in front of them drops like a puppet with it's strings cut.

Yes that's why D-scythes in all their versions are considered dread weapons even by the Eldar themselves the only reason they field those it's a show of how desperate they are facing their enemies.
Also some hints points they developed those weapons to battle Tyranids more easily specially with Heavy D-scythes.

Really, thats pretty interesting. It sounds far more like a Dark Eldar weapon than a Craftowrld one.

Well they are the same species of triksy elf. It could have even been designed before the fall.

Possibly, but the technological difference between Commoragh and a Craftworld can be huge in some cases.

how does it affect a knight or robot then? doesn't it need to be squishy for it to be affected?

It will still kill a Knight. Those things need pilots.
