So i was scrolling through 4chan thinking about chaos daemons when i had a novel idea: why cant my dark angels summon "good" daemons in my skirmishes? And then i remembered that I had the AoS starter set sitting under my desk. So the deal is I think these stormcast could make for a great "warp angel army". Im a bit fuzzy on how this could fit in the lore (if at all), but i am nonetheless determined to make it happen for my basement battles.

Im looking for any input for either the fluff, which im not too well versed in, and the stats, if anyone is making some yourself.

Heres what i got so far...

Fluff: since the warp is a preverse version of the realm of souls, maybe there are still portions of the warp that has not been completely converted to its chaotic state, representing the counter parts of the chaos gods (instead of wrath, justice, debauchery, logic...). The Emperor, being the embodyment of righteosness, good, justice, ect... Can commmune and access these portions of the realm of souls. Being basically God, emps is in alignment with these beings of order and they plegde their alligence with him. The imperiums fear of the warp and taint is still ever present, with only high ranking memeber of the eclesiarchy and Adept librarians grasping the concepts of these "good daemons" while still maintaning their great mistrust or hate of anything warp related. If a critical battle is being lost or when the forces of chaos seem to be overwhelming them, a psyker or a librarian may resort to reaching into the warp and calling upon these beings or righteousness (no real name for them yet).
Edit: played with the idea of living saints but couldnt find a real way to integrate them into the lore, would all the sigmarines be living saints?? Proabaly not since only like 2 appear every millenium

Rules: I think I will refer to the chaos daemons codex for making any rules for them, other than that i am currently working on giving them stats. Feel free to make suggestions or post your hypothetical stats.

But on a serious note, this is a very cool idea, and as well, the stormcast dooders are a great place to start, very angelic

The Sanguinor is basically a Chaos angel of the BA, and iirc don't the SoB have daemonic angels of the emperor? There's alos the theory that the Legions of the Damned are daemons, ect ect.

Saint Celestine. There are other living saints, but she's the one we know the most about.

You are not the first to think of this concept. I would strongly suggest you explore this with your army-its a painter's and customizer's dream. You can use models from warhammer and other lines as a base (knight's, elven minis, and ghosts as your "demons" etc.) and you could use Chaos rules or even Nid rules for a counts as army.

In The Talon of Horus there are shown to be some Emperor aligned warp creatures getting beamed at the Eye from the Astronomican.

This is a good idea and would like to see any rule and miniatures you make from this. A few thoughts; first I wouldn't use the term "good" daemons but instead " Daemons of the Emperor" it just makes it clearer. Also as others have pointed out there is a theory that the legion of the damned already are daemons of the Emperor so if you are looking for inspiration that is probably a good place to start. Personally I view the living saints as the emperor's equivalent to daemon princes aka mortals that have earned their God's favor to become daemons, the stormcast eternals in age of sigmar could fit that but for a 40k equivalent I would make them pure daemons created from the warp. The Stardrake would make a good equivalent to a greater daemon as well.

You could always just pass them off as daemons of slaanesh tbh, I can easily see some of his creatures taking angelic forms in order to seduce/mesmorise/ cast doubt on those who come into contact with them. Imagine how put off citizens of the imperium would be if the enemy resembled saints/angels/sanguinius/ the emprah!

If you want them fighting for good guys just say "they're serving pleasure god through the satisfaction that the DA are feeling when their enemies are destroyed" or something to that effect.

Would add a nice grimdark touch to the concept

It's a neat idea, and wouldn't in fact be all that far from (admittedly very, very old) Warhammer canon.

It isn't the best picture but the angel holding a flaming sword at the top right of the page is a Citadel 'Daemon of Law' from the mid-80s. They had rules and background in (I think) WFB 3E or WFRP, but vanished from continuity by the time Realm of Chaos was published, (more or less) defining the GW cosmology we know today.

The angelic daemons could be the good part of human emotions? Maybe draw a smily face on all their helmets

I love this idea and think you should definitely do it.

Unfortunitly there are no rules for Undivided Chaos Daemons in the codex because no such daemons exist because all daemons have pleged their alliegence to one of the 4 runious power (or the emporer) ((or malice))

However I think for your emporer worshipping daemons using the rules for tzeetch daemons in the codex would work wonderfully as they are very simaler in combat ability and strentghs, they both use fire attacks and have magic powers
