Multiple questions here guys.

The merchant princling warlord trait, can it be applied to raiper teams?( thinking ap3 quad heavy bolters would be nice)

Secondly is I'm still having trouble with the allies chart. With cults as my main force, could I apply the ap improvement to an allied force consisting of Alpha Legion? Want to drop pod down 10 ap3 heavy flamers .

And if someone could properly explain the 30k ally chart would be great, because sometimes the skulls are different for intactions between the factions one way and the other.

Well thats complicated, the crew are classed as infantry but the rapier itself is artillery and the merchant princeling only effect infantry. much better to do it with a fire support squad.

Merchant Princeling only applies to Infantry Units. Rapier squads are Artillery units, so they can not be chosen.

And i dont think allies can use the main armies warlord traits, i could be wrong there.

Actually yes you could do it to alpha legion as they are sworn bros.

It's just because it says one squad with the infantry type and rapier aren't just artillery in the unit entry. The rapier has artillery and the crew have infantry. It is a squad with the infantry type, in the same sense as steak and chips is a meal with chips.

And any idea on the other questions?

Your Imperial Army treat the alpha legion as sworn brothers so your warlord can give an alpha legion ally the improved ap however if the alpha legion were the main army then the militia couldnt take advantage of the warlord trait of your praetor/delegatus/whatever.

In my book it has alpha legion as sworn brothers with militia, but militia as fellow warriors with alpha legion.

And the warlord trait applies to the whole squad, including the rapiers, as long as it contains models with the infantry type. Thats just how I read it anyways. It's like my previos analogy. You can have gravy in any meal with chips, steak and chips has chips so I get my gravy for it.
