I am trying to make a themes Volkite List. I really like the idea of tons of jumpy shots chain-lightning-ing their way through masses.

So far ive narrowed it down to using the Legion Glaive, 2x drop pods with tacs with Volkites, and a unit of breachers in a spartan with a Volkite,

Any suggestions on what can spam Volkite?

What is going to be your second compulsory troop choice?

just two 10x man tacs in pods. I figured that gives me 2x troops, take a praetor with volkite for HQ,

I really have no idea what im doing. i just want red lightning to fry plastic men.

Moritats with volkite serpentas?
NL Terror Squads?
Veteran Tacticals?
Glaives?

Oh my, I sucked a lot right there. I play Iron Hands, I have 3x contemptors (dont know if they can take volkites)

The tactical support squads are not compuslory troops, you'd need a basic Tac Squad or another Squad of Breachers

For an actual army suggestion, run the Company of Bitter Iron, use Immortals all upgraded with Volkite Chargers, take terminators, all with Volkite Chargers.

Similar to a "World Burner" list I want to do with Night Lords, using the Terror RoW, Terror Squads with Volkite and then Terminators with Volkite.

Oh man, I wanted to see Night Lords do exactly that! That would be a sickeningly cool looking army with the red and blue contrast.

Baring specific Rites of War, at 2,000 points the most expensive LoW you can take is 500 points. To take the Glaive (625 pts), you'd need a 2,500 point list.

Dreadnoughts: Contemptors and Contemptor-Cortus can take two TL Volkite Culverins. Legion Dreadnoughts can take two Volkite Culverins.

WTF is a legion dreadnought. Just like, a regular hurly durr dread? I thought 30k only had contemptors. I should probably consider that option. I have 10 dreads.

I always run the Leviathan detachment, so its always viable.

Yea legion dreads are basic boxnoughts.
Ahhh leviathan detachment, i love playing against that. The look on someones face when you first turn slay the warlord and they have to pay the price of failure.
Obviously if you use leviathan you cant have a ROW for your primary detachment.

To be honest when you have the option always go contempter but i get a lot of use out of boxnoughts as a backfield mortis.

I primiarily hunt other LOW with the glaive. Its more themed than anything and its the single models that got me into 30k. So im doing my best to make viable lists. 2.5k isnt a bad spot to play, just not a lot of people do.


What is the devastator/ heavy version of volkite? I fought against it at the HH doubles tourney at adepticon and they wrecked. Couldnt remember the name of the unit that had them

Ahhh if im going to take a LOW its almost certainly Perturabo and i use an all infantry force anyway.

They are called Volkite Culverins, they are very fun.

I just did a bit of reading. Now I need to write up some points values. Im definitely thinking 10x immortals in a Spartan with Mor, Glaive with Casterman Orth, 2x10 LegionTacs in pods, 3x Contemptors, and 3x5 Heavy Support Culverins at around 2500 points.

How are you getting drop pods? They dont come as a standard choice for tacs.

Yeah, basically. I'm considering dropping them for another immortal volkite squad and something else. But the models are ace. Nothing like a wall of AV 14 with armored ceramite and whatever that IH wargear is that lets you regain HP.

I think we have a winner! This seems like the best option. Good repair, good mobility, I own 3x Spartans so my immortals and Gorgons can go in there. Lets give this a shot! Considering dropping off Orth to take 2x Rhinos/ Lasbacks for the 10x man tacs.

I dont think this list is legal, also i cannot find the Company of Bitter Iron rules for the life of me. What book is it in?

Company of Bitter Iron is in Book 6.

Also it makes the Immortals into Troops so you shouldnt need the Legion Tactical Squads.

Thank you! Its my second HH list ive made in my life haha. First one I took to Adepticon and won with my Glaive. Which is why I was really heartset on taking it. I might Run this list instead.
