This utterly false narrative that the police are out shooting blacks at every turn (at the exclusion of any other race) is just ridiculous. More whites are killed by LE than blacks by a good margin.

Now is the percentage of blacks killed by cops higher than their percentage of the population? Yes. That's a problem.

But for someone to justify what just happened in Dallas by saying they are rightfully fighting tyranny is ridiculous.

The culture of raising kids to fear LE creates a vicious cycle that is now exploding.

When you raise generations of people to fear and/or hate the police then their interactions with the police are predisposed to be negative.

Right or wrong, I guarantee you if you peacefully cooperate and comply with LEO directions you are not going to get shot by police.

If you feel you are wrongfully detained their is a system in place to address that. But if you are resistant to police they are going to escalate. Then your dead because you couldn't follow simple directions becuase of your preprogrammed bias against LEOs.

On topic I absolutely believe in everything you wrote. I have rehearsed with my soon to be driving daughter what to do when pulled over, and how non-compliance is never an option. In the long run, making a LEOs life difficult for being a DB pays out higher than getting slammed against your own vehicle, or worse shot.

I don't think most people are making the assertion that more black people than white people are killed by police in absolute numbers. There's dramatically more white people and thus they're almost certainly going to be the higher number in absolute terms.

However, it's the relative proportional numbers that show the trend people are upset with. blacks make up about ~12-14% of the US population, but about 30% of people killed by police are black, while whites constitute about ~64% of the population but only ~50% of people killed by police are white.

There are a large number of factors that go into play there, but when you go by the *proportions* instead of the absolute numbers of people killed by police, a very clear trend does emerge, but the reasons behind that are many and complex.

I bolded the important part...The raw numbers aren't important, but the percentage is. That is the only number that is important.

Plus, with law enforcement...If there is a perception that they are out to get you that is an issue regardless of the causes of the perception. And that is an issue that law enforcement needs to work on fixing. Yes, it will be hard but it hurts the ability of law enforcement if they are seen as the enemy rather than an ally.
