So, last week I had a pretty rough time against a triple Defender list with my usual Imperial ace list. This got me onto trying to make a squad that was tanky to both give me something different to try and something that could maybe deal with 3x Defenders, and I think these two ships could be a start. I don't know how well it will work, and it has obvious problems, but I'm hoping that maybe the durability could counteract them? Or maybe it isn't even as durable as I'd like to think it is...Chewie might be but I'm not sure about Kanan.

Anyway, here it is.

[YT-1300] Chewbacca w/ PTL, Jan Ors, C-3PO, Title (51)

[VCX-100] Kanan Jarrus w/ AC, AB turret, Hera Syndulla, Rec. Spec (47)

98 points total. 2 points to spare that I may as well use, but I'm not sure what to spend it on. Ordnance for Kanan? APLs/Ion Projector on one of them? Tactical jammers?

You could replace Hera with a second Rec Spec and get three focus each turn, making sure you can downgrade all three attacks. It ought to give you more staying power. And... why Jan Ors?

Ah yes, forgot Rec Specs stack, could definitely work. Might miss being able to K-turn while stressed but mitigating damage is sort of what I'm going for.

Jan Ors is pretty simple, unless I'm wrong in my interpretation of it. Basically, evade, PTL to focus which Jan turns to another evade, and combined with C-3PO should generally net me 3 evades a turn, which makes Chewie more tanky than normal. Again, I could be misinterpreting something in the interactions there, as I've not used the combo yet. So if I'm wrong, I'd like to know lol.

You're right with Jan and PTL. I believe though it's been FAQ'd that you can only apply the benefits of an evade token once per roll, which kind of sucks.
I've used a variation of the Kanan you've put together, and I noticed that on turns he couldn't focus for whatever reason, he seemed to struggle, so it may be worth trying out advamced sensors over accuracy corrector, but that will come down to personal preference and what sort of lists your local players use

With Kanan having focus to spare, your tactic might work even if you can only use one evade per attack. Although it might turn Chewie into too much of an undesirable target and your opponent might want to focus, pun intended, on bringing the Ghost down post haste.

I think they're probably going to do that most of the time anyway. Kanan is the obvious target because he's a big part of your tank and the only real source of damage. And with zero agility you're probably going to inflict damage even if you can't stay at range 3, so Kanan isn't going to last all that long. Then once Kanan dies the game is over, a 3-dice gun with no offensive upgrades is not going to be enough to win against the popular lists right now.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I feel obligated to point out that my meta doesn't see much in the way of the more popular lists during weekly LGS nights, they are usually only used at tournaments and events. I mean, people might bring them out during the first couple weeks after release to try them out and get a feel for them, but they don't play them frequently.

So while I don't disagree with you, there isn't much of a chance that I have to fly this list against triple U-boats or Palp Aces. Kanan is the weak link here for sure, but I think it could still work. I'll try it out this week hopefully and report back either way.

Could you hold Chewie in front and put a Tactical Jammer on him?

So, I ran the list tonight, using Kanan w/ double rec. spec, and while a fun concept in theory it's actually kind of annoying to fly against, supposedly. My opponent had a Decimator + Defender list, and in the first opening salvo he did all of two damage. It proceeded to be a slow grind for a few more turns because he kept going after chewie (or was forced to due to positioning) until Kanan got in behind the Decimator and destroyed it after a few turns, though not before taking a lot of damage himself. Following round he was destroyed by the Defender which in turn was destroyed by chewie.

Thoughts, then. Kanan is definitely weak once targeted, especially when he's focused (heh...) more on focusing over evading (experimental interface, maybe?) but he allowed chewie to take almost no damage the first two turns of shooting, which helped a ton and allowed chewie to survive until the end game with 6 hull remaining. In general the matchup was good for me because it was another 2-ship build, but I think against almost anything else this list falters, especially once Kanan is gone or if they can focus on chewie with a swarm if they have it. Low PS hurt a lot too, especially since I'm used to PS8+ ace lists...

Good list to fly for something different in theory, but it's not a list I'd bring out again.

I'm not sure Experimental Interface would help, because both actions are on your Action Bar. You'd need one of the actions to be on a card with the (action) header.

Ah, right you are. I don't use it very often so I forgot the exact wording. No go, then.

Like I said though, I don't think I'd bring the list out again, at least not for a while. After talking to a few of the guys tonight at the LGS, despite it being pointed out that it's not actually hard to beat, it's...not that fun either.

Kanan and Biggs enjoys spikes of popularity in my meta. If you have a swarm of low attack dice playing against you, the first few attacks are... futile, to say the least.
