I'm 90% sure it was in 40K General discussion, altough it could have been in in background as well.
The thread was something along the lines of "what would be the worst faction to face in real life". Someone posted an exquisite write-up about what would happen if Tyranids suddenly invaded planet earth. He described the invasion of the UK in a very detailed way, spanning it over multiple days.

I really enjoyed reading it and I'm looking for it, but I'm having a hard time finding it. Anyone know about it or have tips finding it? The Dakka search engine is proving to be less than helpful.

Seach for a specific phrase in Google followed by Dakka if you can remember one?
I can't find anything just yet, I had a bit of a go but it's slow going on the phone.
