Hi guys!
In my teenage years I dabbled in Warhammer fantasy, and now 10 years later I fancy getting back into wargaming and having a go at 40k. The only downside is that I don't know anyone who plays! Warhammer World is on my drive home from work, and I've stuck my head in a few times and it's got me really in the mood.
I'm wondering if there's anyone who would be interested in semi regular games of 40k (maybe every other Wednesday after work?) at Warhammer World in Nottingham. Of course I'm completely new to 40k so I'm looking for someone who is patient and up for some casual games, which would initially be small, say 500 points as I gradually build up my army. Another beginner would be great, but likewise an experienced player would be an amazing help, providing they don't mind me posing little in the way of a challenge for the first few games.
I'm really looking forward to getting back into painting, and imagine that playing will introduce me to some great people and a great hobby.
If anyone is interested then let me know, as I'd love to hear from you.
James

Greetings! Always good to see people who want to play at warhammer world! Take a look at this thread, if you post there I'm pretty sure someone will be up for a game. And to answer your thread, if you don't mind waiting a bit. Currently travelling about, but when I get back in mid-September I can play games on Wednesday evenings.

Hi James,
I'm happy to have the occasional game with you, although I only normally play during school holidays or the rare Saturday morning. I don't mind being patient whilst you relearn the ropes, I had a 13 yr break, things haven't changed a massive amount in honesty, just more special rules and weapons.
I'll post on the thread that taemu mentioned when I'm available.
Cheers

Hi other James!
Like the other guys said the thread Taemu linked is a really good way of finding games, albeit I think most of us play on weekends. I should be able to do every other wednesday night. Though which every other wednesday depends on my car sharing.
I could do this wednesday if you already have something to play with. If not then hit me up when you're ready and I'll give you a game when I can.
Have fun building your army!

There seems to be a lot of people called James here
I don't have an army yet, but I've got the Tau start collecting box on order. I'll get another couple of units to add to them, and that'll hopefully give me a 500ish point army to start with.
I'm really looking forward to having my first games, and getting to know a great new bunch of people. That thread looks like a really good tool, though I'd like to stick to the few opponents - not just for the social aspect but I think I'll definitely learn and develop more if its regular opponents I'm facing
Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Just so you know: if youre really eager to have a game with just the start collecting you can play one sheet 40k with someone who also has a start collecting formation. I have the tau one too so Im not sure how that would go down.
In fact: all I have is Tau so any match is bound to be interesting

Hi James, another WHW player here - I've picked up the Start Space Wolves box and am currently building it. I'd gladly give you a game when you're up and running, as I think the boxes should work out similarly pointed?

Having a start collecting box vs a start collecting box is definitely appealing, as the smaller the army the easier it'll be for a beginner to use I imagine. It would also help me to choose what to buy next to add to them. I've done a rough add up and it looks like the Tau start collecting box would be around 450 points.
I'm excited for it to arrive so that I can have my first game with them (I refuse point blank to play with them until they're painted though, it would just seem wrong otherwise).

Hi James,
Another W40k player here! If you fancy a gmail just send me a pm. I could do on some Wednesday's but usually play at WHW on Saturday/Sunday.

Still waiting for my Tau starter box to arrive (Triple Helix Games give a great discount on prices but it's not quick to arrive!)
I'm excited to get painting, and in the meantime have worked out that the contents of the box will come to around 450 points. Here's the mini list I've put together:
Ethereal with Hover drone, Recon armour, Honour blade and a Shield drone
10 man Fire Warrior squad with Shas'ui with two Gun drones and the Missile pod turret.
Crisis team of three suits; Shas'vre with two Plasma rifles, Drone controller and two Gun drones; one Shas'ui with two Fusion blasters, Target lock and two Shield drones; one Shas'ui with Plasma rifle, Missile pod, Target lock and one shield drone. These could either be a squad together, or split into three individual suits, dropping the Shas'vre upgrade.
I guess I can play around with who gets what drones, but I'm going to build them as four Gun drones and four Shield drones ( I think it said you get eight in the box).
I'm eager for it to arrive so I can start building and painting and get a couple of games under my belt.
