My regular opponent has gone and very terribly purchased Belakor for his CSM army, and looking at what a monster he is with a +4 invun and +2 Jink all the time, his Telepathy powers and gross sword, trying to figure out the best way to bring him down. I regularly play Dark Angels for friendly games and Tau for more competitive ones.

You can always wait for him to PoTW himself off the table. Hey, it happened once when I played against him.

PoTW, rolled a 1, failed LD test - *poof*

But overall........eh, the 2+ jink is annoying, I'll warrant. Past that, he's just a invisibility platform, which, again, is annoying, but even so he's not unbeatable.

I'm not sure what AA options DA have, but whatever they are BK is going to get a 2+ jink at all times.

Honestly, I might just bring a psyker to help cancel out invisibility and just deal with the rest of the army. He'll tank too much trying to shoot him down.

Markerlight the hell out of his shroud.

That's the best advice I can give :/ Just remember he costs 350 points so you got some leeway in trying to find something of equal value to toss to him.

Bring 3 nephilims and put them in the "ignores cover" formation. Use Asmodii as your warlord and have him man an ADL with quad gun. Another option is to ignore him and kill everything else.

Can you kill 4 space marine bikes at range? 'Cause that's what Belakor is.

Librarian in a squad of black knights with perfect timing will smoke him in a round.

Tau have almost no end of options, but a unit of 3 broadsides have a reasonable chance at smoking him without even needing any markerlights, a better than average chance using 1 and it's almost certain death if they use 2.

Just don't try to punch him to death, shoot him with high rate of fire mid str guns (preferably that ignore cover) and he'll fall over in no time. Alternately, let him chase after MSU bikers all game and he'll struggle to make his points back.

Thanks for the advice. I like the idea of shooting him at range and then maybe resorting to hit him with big groups of bikes for lots of Hammer of Wrath attacks that hit automatically. My Black Knight squads with six models + Librarian should help with that.

Eh, I wouldn't count on HoW to kill anything, much less T6 3+ save MCs. And that's assuming his player is dumb enough to land BK in the first place. And even if he does, those bike marines are going to get destroyed, I think BK is no slouch in CC, will probably go first, hit on 3s wound on 2s, at AP2. That's bad times for marines.

Honestly, the advice of ignore him and kill the rest of the army is probably the best. Invisibility is annoying, but not unbeatable. And that's about all BK brings, I believe. If you want to take him out in CC, though, you're going to need some invluns, for sure.

Belakor is actually only T5 with a +4 invun in CC. My plan is not to charge him with his full 4 wounds, but when he only has one or maybe two remaining. HoW ignores Invis as it hits automatically, and with 7 hits, there's a decent chance to land a wound or two.

He is at good as dead if you are allowed to charge him. just power up a force weapon and use one of the many options to debuff deamons. There are so many ways to do this, ranging from san powers, to anti nemesis weapons and all sorts of grenades.

My guess is that your opponent will not land with it. So get yourself some anti air and just down it like you would down a flying hive tyrant or a low AV flier.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The whole HaW idea is kinda silly since Belakor will not be that dangerous if he is going to cast invis on himself. The real power of him is buffing other nasty units making them insta win deathstars.

Good advice, though Force weapons won't do much, as he has Eternal Warrior. If he stays in the air, I'll be ignoring him. My big Black Knight squads (3 units of 6 models) each have a Librarian on a bike for that Ld 10 against Psychic Shriek, so that should help.

After playing my first game against the Big B, I was amazed to see him Peril THREE TIMES, killing himself in the process. He's definitely a double-edged sword, especially if he's going around casting two or three powers per turn.

Yep. That's my experience using him. The army he's facing either has enough shooting to down him in 1 turn (Tau & Eldar) or he perils too many times, or he want to get into CC and dies the turn he lands.
He's a good units, but he really is more of a support unit and can be ignored.

Only time I've killed him it was with hammer of wrath from both a gorkanaut and a morkanaut in the dread mob with d3 S8 HoW each...

My Armies:
Orks about 15000-16000 mostly unpainted but slowly being worked on
Militarum Tempestus about 2000 points just built
Inquisition about 2000 points unpainted

Just get him to take 4 cover saves at once, then he will 100% roll 4 1s and thus be killed.

It happened to me loads of times, he either died turn 1 or never died at all.

Weight of Dice usually does it, even with his tricks he is still only T5 so even Bolter fire backed up with Doctrines can put a dent in him, also get some Libs and go fishing for Perfect Timing or whatever that new boswollox Ignore Cover power is called, Tau is a bit harder due to getting the Markerlights to stick but again weight of dice and a few lights to Ignore Cover should do it

I still like the idea of hitting him with 7ish HoW hits from a Libby-lead Ravenwing Command Squad, in theory it should be a decent combat with the Deathwing special rule (Fearless and Hatred) plus FNP from the Apothecary.

Isn't Belakor a Chaos Daemon? Therefore no hatred.

Isn't he classified as a Demon Prince? I thought the FAQ stated that was one of the units that the Deathwing hate. If not, that's a shame, because technically he IS a demon prince.

I'd check the FAQ. I had forgotten about that.

I would argue that he's a demon prince in all circumstances, his data-slate character background clearly states so. I know that's not clearly specified in his stat sheet, but it's very obvious that he is one.

Depends if it's in his rules. Baleflamer is a flamer but doesn't get affected by the Avatar of Khaine's Molten Body rule.

I would make sense if Deathwing doesn't hate him as in fluff no one knows what he is exactly. We only know him as a Daemon Prince because the lore gives us omnipotent knowledge (and even then it could very well still be him lying).

Rule-wise though, i wouldn't be surprised if it entirely depends on which army is taking him. Space Marines in general should know how bad the fluff could be in this situation.

A couple of Sicaran tanks should start the tears flowing. Bit pricey though just to take out one dude.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Cleansing Flame is good, but if you play DA might be too risky to go for.
