Hello, after doing lots of reading, research, and some playing, I have come up with what I think is an ok casual army list for a beginner as myself. Please let me know what you think, and any ideas for improvement is very much appriciated.
HQ
- Eldrad ulthran - 195
Troops
- 10 guardians w/ scatter laser platform - 105
- 10 guardians w/ bright laser platform - 110
- 4 windriders w/ scatter lasers a farseer will go with them w/ a jetbike and a singing spear - 228
- 5 windriders w/ scatter lasers - 135
- 5 rangers - 60
Elites
- 6 fire dragons w/ exarch w/ fire pike w/ a dedicated wave serpent w/ twin bright lance w/ holo fields - 277
Fast attack
- 5 warp spiders w/ exarch w/ twin deathspinner - 110
heavy support
- 1 fire prism w/ shuriken cannon and holo fields -150
- 2 war walkers 1 w/ 2 sacatter lasers, the other w/ 2 bright lances - 130

Personally I would put 2 bright lances on both war walkers, but that doesn't mean it's the best thing to do. Make the windriders min size squads.

It's a pretty good list, and it should hold its own, but there's room for improvements.

Not entirely sure what Eldrad is offering you, for the same points you can take the Avatar, and he'll make all your foot slogging guardians fearless. Just a thought.

I don't think the rangers are offering you very much, especially at the cost of a war walker, which would bring you up to three. I would then switch them all out for twin scatter lasers giving you 24 S6 shots from the walkers alone. I don't think you need the lances on them as you have enough AT. Then imagine guiding them with the seer. 24 twin linked S6 shots.

Also, I don't really understand the chin cannon on the prism? Surely you're going to be keeping him at such a range that you'll never get chance to use it. For the same points you can get ghost walk matrix, allowing you to safely move him into cover for protection.

Just some thoughts as to what I would do with this list.

thanks for all your advice, I was not thinking on the chin cannon on the fire prism, and I'll bring in a third war walker in stead of the rangers. I'll also use only scatter lasers on the walkers. I had also considered taking a few things out to bring in a wraithknight, but I didn't know what to switch out. Let me know what you guys think on the wraithknight. Thanks!

It is a casual list and will provide you with a good time in casual games. The only thing I would change, if anything needs changing at all, is increase the number of War Walkers and get rid of a squad.
