So whilst reading about the late WW1 German Army/Freikorp I had a thought. What about an Imperial Militia army of levy's and grenadier's supported by a malcador and a looted space marine tank or two (filling the full weapon requirement of WYSIWYG leman russ ie a predator/spartan hull etc carrying Imperial Militia vehicle weapons, basically a ww1 beutepanzer for those historically inclined). IE similar to a WW1 German Army based around stosstruppen and reserve regiment soldiers, so like super late 1918 (during the St michel offensive or the Black day of the German Army/Great Retreat), or 1919/German Revolution/ Freikorp era/ early Reichswehr. Basically this army will be a Survivors of the Dark Age army that rely's on the sharp pointy Stosstruppen for the punch and the reservist troops (levy squads) as the endurance.I'll boil up the list shortly but thoughts? I like the theme and I plan to write some rather serious fiction to back this unit up. I'll also plan an AM army so I can use my fig's for 40k.
could be pretty fun! To be fair, my militia list is basically civil war era confederates in looks and tactics (looks 'cause I can get the models affordably and tactics 'cause line infantry + a few sniper squads is a fun way to play it )
I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.
I don't think Survivors Of The Dark Age can take Levy.
Might be getting that mixed up with Warrior Elite - one of them makes them Support Squads, one makes them unavailable....
Certainly the description sounds good. Essentially it's not a million miles from Krieg Death Korps as a background description.
(obviously they wouldn't be Krieg during the heresy as that happens about M37, but Tallarn in 30k is about the same).
